Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly skilled Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) to join our Quality Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the integrity and quality of welding processes and completed welds in accordance with industry standards, codes, and regulations. This role involves performing inspections, audits, and testing to maintain the highest quality standards in our manufacturing or fabrication processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct visual and dimensional inspections of welds on various projects and components.
- Verify welding procedures and techniques meet specified codes and standards (e.g., AWS, ASME, API).
- Perform destructive and non-destructive testing (NDT) documentation and review.
- Review weld maps, procedures, and related documentation for compliance.
- Provide technical assistance and guidance to welders and production teams.
- Identify and document non-conformances, recommend corrective actions, and follow up to ensure resolution.
- Maintain detailed inspection reports and records for traceability and audit purposes.
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations during inspections.
- Stay current on industry standards, best practices, and new technologies related to welding and inspection.
Qualifications:
- Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) through AWS or equivalent certification.
- Proven experience in welding inspection, preferably in manufacturing, construction, or fabrication environments.
- Knowledge of welding codes, standards, and specifications (AWS D1.1, ASME Section IX, etc.).
- Strong analytical, observational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency with inspection tools and equipment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Additional certifications in NDT methods (ultrasonic, radiographic, magnetic particle, liquid penetrant).
- Experience with quality management systems (ISO 9001, AS9100, etc.).
