What You’ll Do 

 

Position Summary


Suvida’s Data team is hiring a Data Engineer who bridges modern data tooling with healthcare experience. As the first Data Engineer hire, you will work to migrate Suvida to a best-in-class data ingestion and orchestration platform, and be responsible for a high-performance, cost-effective solution to drive data availability throughout Suvida.

 

Responsibilities

  • Working with the data engineering team leader, plan and execute migration to ELT platform (Synapse > Airbyte).
  • Help own ingestion of novel data from source systems to Snowflake.
  • Help own, maintain pipelines from Snowflake to other systems (Airtable, Elation, etc.)
  • Empower the analytics team with robust, documented, and reliable staging models – the foundation of the BI platform (Lightdash).
  • Write high-quality SQL and/or Python as needed for transformation, ingestion, extraction pipelines.
  • Foster culture of excellence – create/update Confluence documentation, build observability into our data platform, and drive ownership of data artifacts.

 

What You’ll Bring

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • 4–6 years of hands-on data experience, ideally within modern analytics or engineering environments.
  • Advanced SQL proficiency, including building and optimizing queries in production environments.
  • Experience with Snowflake and dbt (or comparable cloud data warehouse + transformation tools).
  • Working knowledge of Python for analytics, automation, or pipeline extensions.
  • Strong data pipeline experience, using tools such as Fivetran, Hevo, Airbyte, or similar ingestion platforms.
  • Experience supporting or collaborating with software engineering teams, including familiarity with Git workflows, code reviews, and CI/CD principles.
  • Proficient with modern BI and semantic layers, preferably Lightdash, but also open to candidates experienced with Looker, Tableau, or Power BI.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical insights for non-technical stakeholders and build trust across teams (Finance, Clinical Ops, Population Health).
  • Experience migrating or modernizing large-scale technology platforms (e.g., warehouse, BI, workflow tooling).
  • Demonstrated ability to design systems that source from a central data warehouse and sync or push data into downstream tools.
  • Healthcare domain experience is a strong plus.

  

Education, Experience, Licensure, or Certification Requirements

  • Bachelor’s in a quantitative field (e.g., Statistics, Math, Economics, Engineering, Public Health, CS, Finance) or equivalent experience. Graduate degree a plus.
