Chief Operating Officer (COO)

About Talent Beyond Boundaries (TBB)

At TBB, we envision a world where forcibly displaced people can use their skills and talents to move toward secure futures. We aren't just a service provider; we are a catalyst for systems change. By partnering with governments and employers, we break down the barriers preventing refugees from accessing skilled migration pathways.

Operating as a global network of affiliated non-profits across the UK, Europe, Canada and  Australia, we are building a platform that can scale to serve millions. To help us get there, we need a strategic, operationally-minded leader to serve as our next Chief Operating Officer.

Location: Global - Fully Remote (must have significant GMT timezone overlap)

Reports to: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Direct Reports: Finance & Grants Manager, Global HR Manager, External Consultants

Salary: Competitive, depending on location and experience

The Role

The COO is a pivotal executive leadership position designed to be the "internal engine" of TBB. You will partner closely with the CEO to manage our organizational model, financial sustainability, and global human resources. Your mission is to integrate our Finance, People, and Admin functions into a seamless global platform that maximizes our impact for displaced talent.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational Leadership: Design and maintain the organizational architecture and governance models needed for multi-jurisdictional compliance and geographical expansion.
  • Financial Stewardship: Lead the global financial strategy, managing a multi-currency treasury (five currencies) and ensuring high-level stewardship of our global grant portfolio.
  • People & Culture: Establish a workforce strategy that attracts and retains world-class talent across diverse jurisdictions, fostering an inclusive, "remote-first" culture that prioritizes wellbeing.
  • Compliance & Risk: Act as the lead for enterprise risk management, ensuring all five legal entities remain in good standing with regulators like the IRS, Charity Commission, and GDPR.

Who You Are

You are a seasoned executive who thrives in "unpredictable" environments and knows how to translate high-level vision into actionable, scalable plans. You are as comfortable discussing restricted fund accounting as you are fostering a healthy remote organizational culture.

Essential Qualifications & Skills

  • Global Expertise: Proven experience leading operations in at least two of our key jurisdictions (US, UK, Canada, or Australia).
  • Strategic Execution: A proven track record of diagnosing institutional bottlenecks and driving forward momentum.
  • Non-Profit Leadership: Prior experience in a multi-functional leadership role within a global non-profit.
  • Financial Acumen: You are a Qualified Accountant (CPA, CA, ACCA) or have demonstrated executive-level financial responsibility.
  • Grant Sophistication: Deep understanding of restricted fund accounting and donor compliance (experience with Federal Awards or European Commission funding is a major plus).

Why Join Us?

This is a rare opportunity to shape the internal structure of an organization that is fundamentally changing how the world views refugee migration. You will work with a passionate, global team dedicated to moving the needle on one of the world’s most pressing challenges.
