What we're looking for

Tarteel is looking for a Senior Technical Product Manager to help us identify, design, and build the next generation of Quran experiences used by millions of Muslims around the world.

Our product sits at the intersection of AI, mobile technology, education, and the Quran. Many of the problems we work on don't have established playbooks: understanding a user's recitation in real time, intelligently adapting a memorization experience to an individual's performance, making sophisticated AI systems work reliably on-device and offline, and turning large amounts of user and recitation data into genuinely useful product experiences.

In this role, you will work closely with the founders, engineers, designers, researchers, and other members of the team to decide what we should build and help turn ambiguous ideas into exceptional products.

We're looking for someone who is unusually technical for a product manager. You don't need to be the engineer implementing every feature, but you should be comfortable understanding how the systems behind our products work, exploring data yourself, discussing architecture and technical tradeoffs with engineers, and rapidly prototyping ideas using modern AI and development tools.

You should be deeply curious about users, obsessive about product quality, comfortable making decisions with imperfect information, and capable of independently taking a problem from an unclear opportunity to a shipped product with measurable impact.

Responsibilities

• Own major product areas from problem discovery through launch, measurement, iteration, and long-term improvement.
• Identify high-impact opportunities by combining user research, product intuition, quantitative analysis, and a deep understanding of Tarteel's technology.
• Work closely with engineers and designers to turn ambiguous problems into clear product requirements and high-quality user experiences.
• Develop a strong understanding of Tarteel's technical systems, including our mobile architecture, APIs, data infrastructure, and AI capabilities, and use that understanding to inform product decisions.
• Query and analyze product data directly to investigate user behavior, validate hypotheses, measure outcomes, and discover opportunities.
• Define success metrics and evaluate whether shipped products meaningfully improve user outcomes rather than simply delivering features.
• Prototype product ideas using AI-assisted development tools and other technologies when doing so helps us learn faster.
• Write clear product specifications that communicate the problem, intended outcome, constraints, edge cases, and important product decisions without unnecessarily prescribing implementation.
• Work directly with engineers throughout development to resolve tradeoffs, answer product questions, and maintain a high quality bar.
• Collaborate closely with design and engineering to ensure the final product is functional, intuitive, delightful, and polished.
• Design and evaluate experiments, including feature flags and A/B tests, when experimentation is appropriate.
• Talk directly to users and develop a deep understanding of how Muslims around the world read, memorize, understand, and interact with the Quran.
• Proactively identify problems and opportunities across the product rather than waiting for a roadmap or requirements to be handed to you.
• Help shape Tarteel's broader product strategy and determine where our technology can create experiences that were previously impossible.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience building technology products, including significant product management experience.
• Experience owning meaningful product areas or products from discovery through launch and iteration.
• Strong technical fluency and the ability to work directly with engineers on technically complex products.
• Ability to understand APIs, databases, system architecture, AI systems, and other technical concepts well enough to independently reason about product possibilities and constraints.
• Strong analytical skills and experience using product data to investigate questions and make decisions.
• Comfortable working directly with SQL or demonstrated ability to independently learn technical tools for analyzing data.
• Demonstrated ability to break ambiguous problems into clear hypotheses, decisions, and executable product work.
• Strong product intuition and an exceptional attention to detail.
• Track record of shipping products with measurable user or business impact.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to distinguish between what users ask for and the underlying problem that should actually be solved.
• Comfortable challenging assumptions, including your own, and changing direction when the evidence warrants it.
• Ability to work independently and drive projects forward without significant process or oversight.
• Regularly uses AI and emerging tools to increase the quality and speed of your own work.
• Availability for meetings from Monday to Thursday between 8am and 12pm Eastern.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience as a software engineer, technical founder, engineering manager, data scientist, or in another highly technical role.
• Experience building consumer mobile products serving 1M+ users.
• Experience with AI or machine learning products.
• Experience with experimentation, growth, personalization, recommendation systems, or educational products.
• Experience working with products involving large or complex datasets.
• Experience prototyping software directly using tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, or similar AI development tools.
• Familiarity with the Quran, Quran memorization, or the needs of Muslim communities around the world.
• Professional Arabic proficiency.

Interview Process

Our interview process for this role consists of three stages:

1. 60-minute product screener focused on your background, product judgment, and previous work
2. 60-minute technical product interview covering product strategy, analytical reasoning, technical decision-making, and a product problem
3. 60-minute culture fit interview focused on situational scenarios and personal perspectives
