About the role

Techno is seeking a Cost Estimator to join our corporate team in New Jersey/New York. In this role, the successful candidate will play a critical role in the development and analysis of detailed cost estimates for complex projects.


What you'll do

  • Perform detailed and comprehensive cost estimates for new construction and major renovations.
  • Analyze design documents, drawings, scopes of work, specifications, and contractor proposals to determine accurate cost projections.
  • Develop and maintain construction budget estimates throughout various stages of design and planning.
  • Forecast total project construction costs and evaluate risks and contingencies.
  • Source and price construction materials, ensuring alignment with current market conditions and negotiating favorable pricing with vendors.
  • Assist in the preparation of competitive bids and proposals for clients, ensuring compliance with project specifications and requirements.
  • Submit bids for client review and approval, incorporating revisions as necessary.
  • Collaborate with project teams to align cost estimates with project schedules, construction sequencing, and overall project management goals.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a closely related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in cost estimating.
  • Proficiency in construction management and scheduling tools such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction methodologies, materials, sequencing, and project management principles.
  • Strong negotiation skills and experience in vendor management and procurement practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities, with a creative approach to overcoming project challenges.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly present estimates and justifications to stakeholders.

The expected salary range for this role in the New York City Metropolitan Area is $80,000 - $180,000 per year. The total compensation, including salary and bonuses, is determined by various factors such as experience, skill level, location, and qualifications, which are evaluated during the interview process
