About the role

Techno is seeking an experienced Civil Inspector to support rail infrastructure projects in New Brunswick, NJ. This role is ideal for someone with a strong civil inspection background and a solid understanding of working in active rail environments.

What you'll do

• Conduct on-site inspections of civil and structural work on rail construction projects to verify compliance with plans, specifications, and safety standards.
• Oversee construction activities including concrete work, grading, drainage, and structural components in active rail corridors.
• Monitor contractor performance, safety practices, and construction progress on a daily basis.
• Document field activities through daily reports, photos, and detailed inspection logs.
• Collaborate with project engineers, contractors, and NJT representatives to resolve field issues promptly and professionally.
• Enforce compliance with NJ Transit standards, project requirements, and local regulatory guidelines.
• Review construction drawings, specifications, and other contract documents.
• Support materials testing, punch list development, and final project close-out.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of civil inspection experience, preferably on rail or transit infrastructure projects.
• Prior field experience on NJ Transit (NJT) projects is strongly preferred.
• Working knowledge of rail safety protocols and construction in live rail environments.
• NICET Level II (or higher) certification in Civil Construction or Transportation preferred.
• OSHA 10 or 30-hour certification preferred.
• Strong communication, observation, and reporting skills.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to travel to and from job sites.
