About the role

Techno is seeking a highly skilled Cost Engineer with proven experience supporting large-scale infrastructure and water management programs. The ideal candidate will have a background in complex, multi-year construction projects involving heavy civil, structural, and environmental components, as well as familiarity with municipal capital program requirements in the New York City area.


What you'll do

  • Develop, monitor, and maintain detailed project cost estimates, budgets, and forecasts for all phases of the work.
  • Track project expenditures, analyze cost trends, and prepare variance reports to identify potential overruns or savings opportunities.
  • Collaborate with project managers, schedulers, and engineers to align cost data with project schedules and progress.
  • Review contractor proposals, change orders, and invoices to ensure compliance with contractual and budgetary requirements.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly cost reports for internal stakeholders and client representatives.
  • Assist in risk assessment and cost control strategies to support timely and cost-effective delivery.
  • Maintain comprehensive cost records in accordance with client and company procedures.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in cost engineering or project controls, preferably on large-scale water infrastructure or reservoir projects in the NYC metropolitan area.
  • Strong knowledge of construction cost estimating principles, cost control methodologies, and earned value management.
  • Proficiency in cost management software (e.g., Primavera Cost Manager, EcoSys, or equivalent) and MS Excel.
  • Familiarity with public-sector capital project processes, procurement procedures, and reporting requirements.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

The expected salary range for this role in the New York City Metropolitan Area is $35 - $70 per hour. The total compensation, including salary and bonuses, is determined by various factors such as experience, skill level, location, and qualifications, which are evaluated during the interview process
