About the role
The Licensing Specialist supports TeleMed2U’s Provider Network by overseeing all aspects of multi‑state professional licensure for clinical providers. This role manages complex licensing workflows, leads strategic licensure planning, and partners closely with Credentialing, Operations, Provider Recruiting, and Clinical Leadership to ensure licensure decisions support organizational coverage, compliance, and growth. The Licensing Specialist monitors regulatory changes, evaluates license utilization, and drives process improvements to enhance licensing efficiency and systemwide alignment.
What you'll do
Licensure Management and Oversight
· Serve as the primary lead for multi‑state provider licensing, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and alignment with organizational priorities.
· Prepare, submit, track, and manage initial and renewal state license applications for physicians and other clinical providers.
· Act as the primary point of contact with state licensing boards, escalating issues when necessary and ensuring timely follow‑up.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
· Partner with Credentialing to ensure licensure status aligns with payer enrollment, privileging requirements, onboarding, and operational readiness.
Licensure Strategy and Workforce Planning
· Evaluate existing provider licensure portfolios to identify unnecessary licenses for potential non‑renewal and build cost‑efficient licensure footprints.
· Forecast future licensure needs to ensure adequate specialty coverage, recommending licensing strategies to leadership.
· Identify providers willing to obtain additional state licenses and support them through the approval process.
· Develop and propose strategic solutions when licensing barriers arise, including alternate coverage options or revised licensure sequencing.
Process Improvement and Compliance
· Monitor evolving state licensure requirements and communicate changes to internal teams.
Qualifications
Required
Education & Experience
· Minimum 2 years of experience in provider licensing, with multi‑state experience strongly preferred.
· Demonstrated experience managing complex, multi‑state licensure workflows.
· High School Diploma or GED required.
Skills & Competencies
· Strong knowledge of state medical boards, licensing portals, and regulatory requirements.
· Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
· Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities.
