About the Role

The Account Executive is responsible for proactive renewal outreach, improving retention of personal lines policies, and cross-selling additional lines of business during renewal conversations. This role requires strong consultative skills, the ability to transition seamlessly from renewal discussions to cross-selling opportunities, and a commitment to delivering exceptional client service.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


Client Service & Account Management (60%)

  • Conduct mandatory outbound renewal calls to clients. Serve as the primary point of contact for an assigned book of personal lines clients, delivering high-touch, professional service.
  • Use a consultative approach to identify options for retaining policies. Analyze coverage and identify gaps. Reshop if necessary
  • Execute proactive renewal outreach to improve retention rates.
  • Handle policy changes, endorsements, certificates, and billing inquiries accurately.
  • Respond promptly to client questions and resolve issues with urgency.
  • Maintain empathy and strong problem-solving skills when handling client concerns.
  • Follow established processes and scripts to ensure consistency and compliance.

Sales & Business Development (30%)

  • Round out accounts by cross-selling appropriate coverages. Identify and present opportunities to cross-sell additional lines of business (auto, home, umbrella, flood, etc.) during renewal calls.
  • Prepare and present professional insurance proposals and quotes.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with carriers and underwriters to secure competitive terms.
  • Overcome objections and transition conversations effectively from renewal to cross-sell.

 Agency Operations & Compliance (10%)

  • Maintain accurate and complete client records in Hawksoft.
  • Ensure all transactions comply with agency procedures and industry regulations.
  • Stay current on industry trends, product offerings, and compliance requirements through ongoing education.
  • Skills and Attributes
  • Consultative Selling & Client Retention: Adept at using a needs-based approach to retain policies, identify coverage gaps, and recommend solutions that round out accounts.
  • Sales Execution: Strong ability to transition seamlessly from service discussions to cross-selling opportunities, with a track record of overcoming objections and closing sales.
  • Client Communication: Clear, empathetic, and professional communicator, skilled at building trust and explaining complex insurance concepts simply.
  • Technical Proficiency: Experienced with Hawksoft (or similar agency management software), rating platforms, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Organization & Diligence: Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and persistent follow-through in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
  • Adaptability & Coaching: Comfortable following processes and scripts while remaining open to feedback and coaching to continuously improve performance.
  • Problem-Solving: Resourceful in resolving client issues with urgency and maintaining composure under pressure.
  • Industry Knowledge: Understanding of personal lines products (Auto, Home, Umbrella, etc.) and a commitment to staying current on industry trends and compliance.


Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Preferred: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, Finance, or a related field. Relevant industry coursework (e.g., towards CISR, CIC, or INS certifications) is a significant plus.

Experience

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a personal lines insurance role, with direct client service and sales responsibilities.
  • Required: Proven experience in proactive client outreach, policy renewals, account management, and cross-selling/upselling insurance products.
  • Required: Hands-on experience with an agency management system (e.g., Hawksoft, Applied Epic, AMS360). Proficiency with Hawksoft is highly desirable.
  • Experience preparing quotes, analyzing coverage, and reshopping policies to improve retention and meet client needs.

Certificates, License, and or Specialized Requirements

  • Required: Must possess a valid state Property & Casualty insurance license.

Preferred: Industry designations such as CISR (Certified Insurance Service Representative) or CIC (Certified Insurance Counselor)
