About the role

As a Senior Data Platform Engineer on Texicare’s Data Platform team, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the core infrastructure and services that power our data ecosystem. This includes overseeing the orchestration of data pipelines, optimizing our Snowflake-based data warehouse, and ensuring reliable integrations with systems such as Salesforce—all within our Azure environment. In addition to leveraging Dagster for workflow orchestration, you will collaborate closely with engineers and stakeholders to drive continuous improvements, scalability, and compliance in a highly regulated healthcare setting.

What you'll do

Platform Architecture & Design

• Architect, implement, and manage robust, scalable data platform components on Azure.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design end-to-end data workflows, ensuring secure and high-performing solutions.
• Evaluate and recommend best-fit tools and practices to enhance our data ecosystem (Azure, Dagster, Snowflake, Salesforce).

Infrastructure & Orchestration

• Develop and maintain data pipelines and workflows in Dagster for real-time and batch processing.
• Manage Texicare’s data platform infrastructure—including Kubernetes clusters and containerized environments—for reliability and high availability.
• Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, Bicep, or similar tools to automate deployments.

Data Warehousing & Integrations

• Oversee Snowflake configuration and performance optimization, ensuring efficient data storage and retrieval.
• Integrate diverse data sources (Salesforce, external APIs, on-prem systems) into the platform, enabling a unified data strategy.
• Monitor data pipelines for reliability, implement alerts, and troubleshoot issues to maintain continuous uptime.

Platform Reliability & Security

• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks across the data platform, from ingestion to consumption layers.
• Enforce security best practices, including identity access management, encryption, and compliance with healthcare data regulations.
• Collaborate with Security and Compliance teams to ensure the platform meets regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA).

Collaboration & Mentorship

• Work closely with Data Engineers, Data Scientists, DevOps, and Product teams to align platform initiatives with business goals.
• Mentor junior engineers, promoting best practices in code quality, architecture, and documentation.
• Foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement, championing automation and innovation at every level.

Continuous Improvement

• Stay current with emerging trends in data engineering, platform engineering, and healthcare technology.
• Proactively identify areas for optimization and automation within the data platform to improve speed, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.

To be successful in this role, you should have

• 4+ years in a data or software role
• At least 1 year of healthcare experience is required
• Strong Python and SQL proficiency
• Excellent communication skills
• A self-starter approach to work
• Creative problem-solving skills
• Systems thinking
