Group Benefits Sales Advisor

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Group Benefits Sales Advisor to expand our team to the Omaha or Kansas City market. In this role, you will be responsible for the comprehensive sale and service of Group Benefits insurance products and services to business clients. This includes prospecting for new business and meeting minimum sales expectations, while also maintaining existing business throughout the year. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Research, seek out, and contact prospective clients for the purpose of making sales appointments.
  • Survey prospective clients to determine their insurance needs and identify opportunities to provide new products or services.
  • Collect required information from new and prospective clients to adequately quote their insurance.
  • Provide applicable client information to Account Manager(s) and/or Marketer(s) to properly quote their business with the appropriate insurance companies.
  • Prepare and present formal proposals of insurance to both existing and prospective clients, communicating the desire to conduct business with them.
  • Regularly contact and/or meet with existing clients to review their accounts, determine if there have been changes to their insurance needs, and ensure their ongoing needs are being met by the agency.
  • Conduct enrollment meetings and/or benefit fairs to properly educate clients and their respective employees on their group benefit plans.
  • Provide appropriate plan, education, and/or enrollment materials to clients and assist employees with their enrollments as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with Account Manager(s) to review existing accounts and policy renewals and determine appropriate action or information needed.
  • Introduce Account Manager(s) to clients, request that service calls be directed to them, and forward all service-related calls to the assigned Account Manager(s) as appropriate.
  • Assist Account Manager(s) with client questions or service needs as they arise.  Stay informed of claims and/or service issues as appropriate and become involved in resolution when needed.
  • Regularly monitor insurance markets to ensure existing plans are effective and to identify any necessary changes to client accounts.
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with the appropriate insurance company representatives.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Accident, Health, and Life insurance licenses.
  • Previous Group Benefits sales experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of Group Benefit insurance products and services.
  • Effective sales and negotiation skills.
  • A valid driver’s license, the ability to drive, and a reliable vehicle in order to meet with clients.
  • Excellent customer service skills, including the ability to have positive customer interactions and maintain positive customer relationships.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, including the ability to handle multiple projects or tasks, meet established deadlines, and change priorities as business needs require.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including both written and verbal communication.
  • The ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, but also independently with minimal daily supervision.
