Position Summary
As a 401(k) Retirement Plan Advisor, you will be responsible for the comprehensive sale and service of qualified retirement planning products and services to business clients. You will be expected to prospect for new business and meet minimum sales expectations, while also maintaining existing business throughout the year. Primary job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Research, seek out, and contact prospective clients for the purpose of making sales appointments.
- Survey prospective clients to determine their qualified retirement planning needs and identify opportunities to provide new products or services.
- Review business information, benefit plan information, employee census information, plan summaries, etc. with clients as appropriate.
- Prepare and present formal proposals of qualified retirement planning to prospective clients, promote agency cross-selling opportunities, and communicate the desire to conduct business with them.
- Regularly contact and/or meet with existing clients to review their qualified retirement planning needs. Determine if there have been changes and ensure their ongoing needs are being met.
- Regularly monitor financial markets to ensure existing plans and funds are effective. Identify any necessary updates to client accounts.
- Prepare information for clients, such as performance reports, and then ensure that clients understand how this information affects their qualified retirement plans.
- Conduct seminars and workshops on various retirement planning topics for both existing and prospective clients. Prepare and present qualified retirement planning education in individual, small group, and large group settings.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in finance, personal wealth management, financial planning, or another related field, or an equivalent amount of relevant experience.
- Securities licenses as appropriate to the position (i.e. Series 65, or Series 7 and 66).
- Previous experience in qualified retirement planning preferred but not necessarily required.
- Knowledge of qualified retirement planning products and services.
- A valid driver’s license and the ability to drive a vehicle to meet with existing and prospective clients.
- Excellent customer service skills, including the ability to have positive customer interactions and maintain positive customer relationships.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills, including the ability to handle multiple projects or tasks, meet established deadlines, and change priorities as business needs require.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including both written and verbal communication.
- The ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, but also independently with minimal daily supervision.
