Guest Experience Lead — CocoNene

International Market Place, Waikīkī | Full-Time

At CocoNene, the connection to Hawaiʻi runs from the artists behind our designs to the teammates making products at our Kapolei factory and sharing them in our stores. Our locally made décor, gifts and personalized products connect creative, manufacturing and retail work here in Hawaiʻi.

We’re looking for an experienced, hands-on Lead for our flagship International Market Place store. This is active floor leadership: you’ll personally engage guests and sell while watching the wider floor, directing priorities and coaching teammates through busy periods. Your presence and judgment help the whole team succeed.

Pay and benefits

• Guaranteed base pay: $24/hour.
• Daily team bonus: After completing initial training, eligible teammates earn an additional $2/hour for all hours worked on days the store achieves its daily sales-per-customer goal. Bonus earnings are not guaranteed.

What you'll do

• Model active guest engagement, product storytelling and effective selling.
• Help direct floor coverage and priorities as traffic and guest needs change.
• Recognize where interactions or floor execution need improvement, and help teammates adjust.
• Coach in the moment: demonstrate an approach, let a teammate practice and give useful feedback.
• Lead huddles and connect conversion, average order value and sales per customer to practical actions.
• Help newer teammates build product knowledge, confidence and independence.
• Resolve guest concerns calmly and involve management when needed.
• Support opening and closing, register operations, replenishment, wrapping and store presentation.
• Provide clear shift handoffs and share recurring issues, guest feedback and improvement ideas with management.
• Help lead the floor when the Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager is unavailable, within your assigned responsibilities.

What you’ll bring

• Relevant experience in retail, hospitality or another high-volume guest-facing environment.
• Demonstrated experience guiding, training or coaching others. Strong trainer or keyholder experience qualifies; a management title is not required.
• Strong guest-service and sales skills, with confidence giving clear, respectful direction.
• Awareness of the wider floor and sound judgment when priorities compete.
• Comfort with shared goals, performance information and accountability.
• Reliability, composure and follow-through.
• Willingness to receive coaching and improve your own leadership.
• Interest in our products, local artists and Hawaiʻi manufacturing.

Japanese-language differential: An additional $1/hour for team members who demonstrate conversational Japanese sufficient to assist guests with products and purchases. Japanese is helpful, but not required.

Teamwork and growth

Our sales are team-based, with no individual commission. You’ll help teammates succeed, keep necessary tasks moving and reinforce clear expectations. Formal performance concerns go to store management.

We’ll support your development through practice, feedback and increasing responsibility. We welcome practical ideas from the people doing the work and seek someone interested in contributing over time.

Growth may include further store leadership or opportunities in areas such as training, operations, marketing, technology or production, depending on strengths, readiness and available roles. Advancement is not guaranteed.

Schedule

Night availability and at least one weekend day are required, along with support during major holiday and high-volume periods. We operate year-round. Expect substantial standing and movement while assisting guests, guiding teammates and maintaining the store.
