The Berlin Steel Construction Company is a full-service specialty contractor, primarily with structural steel and miscellaneous metals. We design, fabricate, and erect structures in the Northeast and in other parts of the country. We have 2 fabrication facilities, 4 erection operations facilities, and 6 office locations that provide engineering and management of projects. We are a 100% employee-owned company (ESOP) with a desire for growth. We service the private commercial, public, institutional, and industrial markets.

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Purchasing Agent to join our Supply Chain team in Kensington, CT office. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating the procurement of raw materials, equipment, and supplies to support project and operational needs in a timely manner. The ideal candidate has strong communication, organizational, and technical skills. Key Responsibilities:

·         Manage and execute the timely purchasing and distribution of materials for operations and projects.

·         Collaborate with internal teams—Division Managers, Estimators, Project Managers, and Operations leadership—to understand material needs and project schedules.

·         Source and evaluate vendors based on price, reliability, and performance.

·         Negotiate pricing, cash discounts, and volume purchase agreements.

·         Provide updates on material availability and pricing changes to key stakeholders.

·         Maintain and enforce purchasing documentation standards, including terms and conditions.

·         Track and maintain records of vendor performance and price histories.

What We’re Looking For:

·         Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field preferred. In lieu of a degree, 6+ years of relevant purchasing experience will be considered

·         3+ years of purchasing experience, ideally within the construction or steel industry.

·         Strong negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.

·         Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and database systems.
