Job Description: 

AVEX is seeking a Chief Inspector at our facility located at KBJC in Broomfield, CO. This position is to ensure compliance with FARs, Repair Station Manual and provide quality review of Repair Station work orders. The Chief Inspector is involved with day-to-day decisions of aircraft airworthiness, directing and orienting Inspectors to execute their work in accordance with the requirements in line with the Repair Station procedures and guaranteeing compliance to FAA regulations. The Chief Inspector is also responsible for ensuring critical aviation safety standards are adhered to by maintenance personnel.  

Essential Duties: 

  • Inspect work of aircraft mechanics performing maintenance, modification, or repairs, and overhaul of aircraft and aircraft mechanical systems to ensure adherence to standards and procedures.  

  • Prepare and maintain detailed repair, inspection, investigation, and certification records and reports. 

  • Inspect new, repaired, or modified aircraft to identify damage or defects and assess airworthiness and conformance to standards, using checklists, hand tools, and test instruments. 

  • Ensure that all technicians are properly trained, and training records are being maintained. 

  • Oversee Daher Factory training and other OEM and FAA training. 

  • Review maintenance records to ensure servicing was/is performed at necessary intervals. 

  • Oversight of all facility safety protocols, procedures, training, and certifications. 

  • Closing out work orders, ensuring that all squawks have been addressed and logbook entries are properly written and executed in a timely basis. 

  • Oversight of all structural repair jobs, tail number changes, and avionics installs to ensure proper compliance is followed and other FAA paperwork has been properly completed. 

  • Completion of engine reports after every inspection which includes review of borescopes, trend/shadin data oil analysis, and vibration analysis 

  • Engaging with customers and available to handle customer and staff interactions afterhours, as needed.  

  • Oversight of workshop admin personnel in the quality department. 

  • Interaction with pilots and customers to evaluate squawks that are reported.  

  • Release aircraft for test flights and returning aircraft to service on a timely basis after ensuring that all work has been properly completed, documented, and signed off. 

  • Updating POHs and AD Compliance Lists as necessary. 

  • MEL/RVSM preparation as needed. 

  • Serve as the main point-of-contact for Avex BJC with the FAA, handling all FAA requests, visits, Repair Station Manual revisions; maintain the Repair Station Manual so that it’s kept up to date and accurate. 


Mandatory requirements: 

  • Airframe and Power Plant license with an Inspector Authorization. 

  • 10 years technical experience within Part 145 repair station, of which at least years are in an inspector capacity. 

  • Experience with Turbo Prop on Part 91 aircraft (TBM, King Air, PC-12, or similar). 

  • Pratt & Whitney PT6 engine experience. 

  • Knowledge of inspection and certification process, a general working knowledge of aircraft and familiarity with pertinent FAR’s and technical reference materials. 

  • Experience closing work orders. 

  • Proficient with computer systems (preferably Outlook Email, Word & Excel). 

  • Customer service experience. 

  • Strong leadership skills. 

  • No violations. 

  • Must live locally or willing to relocate here immediately. 


PREFERRED Qualifications: 

  • Knowledge of borescope operation and review 

  • Tooling/fixtures experience 

  • Experience with Engine Trend Monitoring (WebETCM) 

  • Project Management experience 

  • Experience with Daher TBM aircraft

The pay range for this role is:

100,000 - 130,000 USD per year (BJC)
