MRO Technical Training Manager

Location: Broomfield, CO


The Blackhawk Group is seeking an experienced MRO Technical Training Manager to develop and implement technical training programs that ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and internal standards. This role is critical to enhancing our Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) operations by assessing training needs, designing instructional materials, and delivering comprehensive training sessions.

As the MRO Technical Training Manager, you will play a key role in onboarding, certification management, and continuous employee development. If you are passionate about aviation safety, regulatory compliance, and technical training, we want to hear from you!


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess skill gaps and training needs for MRO operations staff, ensuring compliance with FAA, OSHA, and industry regulations.
  • Develop and deliver technical training programs for MRO operations, focusing on safety, compliance, and best practices.
  • Oversee onboarding and certification programs, working with HR to ensure employees maintain required certifications (A&P licenses, Avionics certifications, etc.).
  • Maintain and update training materials, ensuring proper documentation and continuous evaluation of effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with HR to ensure adherence to FAA Drug and Alcohol Program training requirements and act as a DER when needed.
  • Lead the development and implementation of training programs to support Safety Management System (SMS) compliance across the organization.
  • Conduct assessments and audits to maintain ongoing SMS training compliance.
  • Support employee professional development through competency-based pay and progression (CBPP) framework.
  • Track training effectiveness using key performance indicators (KPIs) such as compliance rates, certification completion, and employee performance improvements.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in aviation, Safety Management, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in aviation maintenance training, safety compliance (safety manager), MRO operations, or technical training.
  • Strong knowledge of FAA regulations, SMS programs, and OSHA safety standards.
  • Experience in developing and delivering technical and compliance-focused training programs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to train diverse teams.
  • Strong collaboration and leadership skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in regulatory reporting, audits, and compliance inspections.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A&P (Airframe & Powerplant) Certification.
  • Safety Management System (SMS) Certification.
  • OSHA 10-Hour Certification.
  • Experience with FAA Drug and Alcohol Program compliance.
  • Previous experience as an MRO Operations Lead, Maintenance Manager, or Safety Compliance Manager.

Pay Range: $80,000- $100,000 Per year commensurate with experience and qualifications
