Aviation Maintenance Technician

If you’re an experienced Aviation Maintenance Technician who takes pride in precision, safety, and craftsmanship, The Blackhawk Group is looking for you to join our team in Columbia, MO. In this hands-on role, you will perform inspections, repairs, and alterations on turbine and piston aircraft while supporting high-quality maintenance operations. You’ll work alongside a skilled team, contribute to safe and efficient aircraft performance, and play an important role in keeping our customers flying with confidence.

What You’ll Do

 

  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, inspections, repairs, and alterations on aircraft and components
  • Conduct complex troubleshooting and corrective actions on airframe, engine, propeller, and related systems
  • Complete maintenance in accordance with approved manuals and regulatory requirements
  • Apply FAA guidance and standard practices when technical data is limited
  • Support inspection and repair projects while helping maintain schedule commitments
  • Document all work performed with accurate and complete maintenance records
  • Assist with evaluating discrepancies and recommending corrective actions
  • Collaborate with supervisors and team members to improve quality and efficiency
  • Help mentor and support less-experienced technicians when appropriate

 

What You Bring to the Table

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) license
  • Strong working knowledge of FAR Parts 43, 91, 135, and/or 145
  • Experience performing aircraft inspections and repairs
  • Ability to read and follow maintenance manuals and technical data
  • Solid troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Willingness to work overtime and occasional weekends as needed
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and compliance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Inspector Authorization (IA)
  • Experience with turbine-powered Part 23 and/or Part 25 aircraft
  • Corporate or business aviation maintenance experience
  • Experience with inspection-heavy maintenance environments
  • Familiarity with quality systems and audit requirements
  • Experience with King Air and/or Citation aircraft
