Job Description: We need motivated and diligent Avionics Technicians to support our fast-growing avionics shop. The job entails working individually or as part of a team of technicians on small, medium and large scale avionics retrofit projects.  It also includes scheduled maintenance tasks and troubleshooting/repair work.  The ideal candidate will exercise care and precision in order to ensure quality installations, on-time deliveries, and satisfied customers. This position requires exceptional customer service attitude, leadership and teamwork skills, attention to detail, and the ability to effectively coordinate with other service departments.

The job requirements will include performing avionics installation and maintenance tasks and projects of all sizes from start to completion.  This will include reading and understanding technical drawings and work scope documents for assigned work items and then completing these tasks on schedule. Tasks will include recurrent scheduled maintenance, troubleshooting, equipment installations and modifications, and airworthiness directive and service bulletin compliance. Specifically, the technician will be able to perform (individually or as a team) wiring harness fabrication and routing, installation and repair of avionics and autopilot systems and components, configuration and troubleshooting of avionics components and systems, pitot/static and transponder system testing and certification, incoming and outgoing inspections, database updates, firmware updates, and instructions for continued airworthiness (ICA) compliance and maintenance on various systems: Com, Nav, GPS, Transponders, DME, WX Radar, EFIS, Altimeters, Autopilots, Datalink Weather and Traffic Systems, GPWS, etc.

Job Requirements:

  • Avionics Knowledge in the form of formal education, on the job training, applicable military experience.
  • Capable of following electrical schematics.
  • Familiar in the use of Avionics test equipment: Multimeter/Voltmeter, IFR 4000 Nav Test set or equivalent, IFR 6000 Transponder/DME test set or equivalent.
  • Excellent Soldering skills, wire crimping and connector assembly skills, and wire harness construction.
  • Self-motivated and able to work effectively under minimal supervision.
  • On time and punctual.
  • Able to read, write, and understand technical English.
  • Familiar with common business technology: Microsoft Suite, Windows, iPads.
  • Maintain a safe, neat and organized work area.
  • Documents work with the same quality as given to the work performed.
  • Must live local or willing to relocate.
  • Must be willing to participate in random drug and alcohol testing per FAA requirements.
  • Willing to work overtime, including weekends.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Avionics Associates Degree.
  • FAA Airframe certification.
  • FAA Powerplant certification.
  • Experience with the Garmin ecosystem.
  • (G600/G500 TXi, G1000, G1000 NXi, G600/G500, GTN and GTN Xi Series & GTX products).
  • Previous installation experience on various makes and models of MFD, GPS, Nav/Com
  • Avidyne, S-TEC, and Aspen Avionics experience.
