About the role

The Channel Company, the global leader in strategic channel growth for the world’s top technology providers, is seeking an Events Operations Specialist to join our Events team covering the APAC region. The role will primarily focus on the operational delivery of face-to-face events, in the format of bespoke lunches or dinners, conferences and awards ceremonies. The events are integrally linked to the division’s publications and their readership provides the main customer base for its events.


You will have ownership of the CRN Asia and Australia brands within The Channel Company with the opportunity to bring creative flare to the range of events you manage. What you'll do

  • You will play a crucial role in the events team to ensure the professional and efficient organisation of all event logistics.
  • You will be required to deliver high quality events on time and to budget and have an ability to cope in high pressure situations while never taking your eye off the important details.
  • You are required to deliver high standards of service as success in this role has a clear and direct impact on our total revenue, profit margin and retention levels.
  • You will report into the Head of Event Operations and work together to ensure our events are market leading
  • The Event Operations Manager will have excellent cost/budget management resulting in events being delivered on specification and within budget

Key Responsibilities

  • Professional and timely delivery of the calendar of events from conception to completion. These may include round tables, conferences, and awards ceremonies, in the format of face to face, hybrid and on-line events
  • Strong customer focus through the development of excellent client relationships with a range of external stakeholders
  • Effective project team work to ensure close cooperation between the events marketing, editorial, design, production, and sales teams, ensuring maximum awareness of all event elements
  • Identifying suitable venues to ensure the best possible space and rates can be negotiated
  • Stay up to date with the latest event technology and event platforms, ensuring the team are using the most appropriate digital platform (where applicable) for the event format
  • To keep thinking creatively and try different approaches to keep our event portfolio consistently engaging, thought-provoking and a must-attend event for our audience
  • Support and on occasions assist the tech event operations team in delivery of events as required from time to time
  • Champion sustainable practices and always consider sustainability while organising events
  • Involvement in the strategic alignment of the events portfolio within the wider global event calendar

Qualifications

  • 3+ years event management for face-to-face sponsored events in B2B
  • Experience in delivering Awards and Digital events is beneficial
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Highly numerate with strong budget management skills
  • Excellent negotiating skills
  • Highly motivated and able to work well autonomously or as part of a team
  • Proven skills in developing strong supplier relationships
  • Ability to thrive and remain calm in a high-pressure work environment
  • Highly presentable with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Good knowledge of MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook & Adobe
  • Desired but not essential: knowledge of Evessio, NetSuite and Monday.com
  • Knowledge of the channel and IT industry is desired but not essential
