Dermatology Medical Assistant

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Prior Authorization Specialist to join our team. This role is responsible for obtaining prior authorizations for medications, procedures, and treatments to ensure timely patient care and insurance compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Review patient medical records and provider orders to determine if prior authorization is required.
- Submit and follow up on prior authorization requests with insurance companies.
- Communicate with providers, patients, and pharmacies regarding authorization status.
- Maintain accurate documentation of all authorization activities.
- Monitor expiring authorizations and initiate renewals as needed.
- Coordinate and manage patient appointments, procedures, and follow-ups.
- Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to avoid delays in patient care.
- Confirm appointments and provide patients with necessary pre-visit instructions.
- Stay current with payer guidelines, requirements, and policy updates.
Qualification
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience in prior authorization, medical billing, or insurance verification (preferably in a dermatology or specialty practice).
- Strong knowledge of insurance processes, payer portals, and medical terminology.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to handle a high volume of calls and scheduling tasks with professionalism.
- Proficiency with EMR systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
