The Lactation Network is hiring a Health Information Management Technician. This position is instrumental in ensuring compliance with our medical records documentation and retention practices. In this role, you will have the opportunity to help us build out and expand our HIM policies and operations. This role will report to the HIM Manager.

Breakdown of the role
- Chart Auditing (50%). You’ll verify that the necessary charting has been completed and is on file so the Billing Team can move forward with claims submission. You'll notify discrepancies to the appropriate team, and follow-up to have the missing documentation submitted.
- QA & Compliance Monitoring (25%). You’ll be the subject matter expert in all things HIM related. Helping us identify areas of opportunity for developing and implementing QA/compliance processes to monitor future success. Alongside the Revenue Cycle Director, you’ll analyze and present the findings to leadership.
- Department Collaboration (25%). Working directly with other departments, you will develop standards of excellence and communicate their respective compliance.
What you’ll do
- Review, Confirm, Report. You’ll review medical documentation and confirm all the necessary requirements for billing are included. Insufficient documentation will be reported to the appropriate teams for follow-up.
- Quality Assurance. Working with senior management, you will design and implement a QA program to identify opportunities in our HIM documentation and retention operations.
- Be the Subject Matter Expert. As our go-to person on all HIM related manners, you’ll have the opportunity to help develop and create our HIM program by providing knowledge on best practices, compliance, and operational practices.
What we expect from you

- Undergraduate degree (preferred)
- 1-3 years of billing and/or collection experience working in a healthcare setting
- Experience working with payers including Commercial, Medicare, Medicare Advantage, Medicaid, and Managed Care
- Strong knowledge of Windows-based software applications (Outlook, Word, Excel) and third-party portals
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written and oral communication skills to effectively communicate with payors and other departments
- Ability to outline and clearly communicate root causes of common problems and recommend solutions
- Capable of making timely, independent decisions
- Exceptional customer service skills required, including interpersonal conversation, patience, and empathy

The pay range for this role is:
65,000 - 98,000 USD per year (Remote (United States))
