We are seeking an experienced entertainment attorney to join our team as Vice President, Television Business & Legal Affairs.


This role will be responsible for development and series-related agreements in connection with scripted and unscripted television programming, including, but not limited to, writer, director, producer, and actor agreements. The Vice President, Television Business & Legal Affairs will independently guide television series projects from development through delivery, including advising on production legal, guild, and clearance matters, while also providing business and legal support across the broader Wonder Project studio.


The ideal candidate brings deep expertise negotiating and drafting complex television deals, strong relationships within the entertainment and talent community, and the ability to work proactively and independently in a fast-paced environment. This role will partner closely with creative, production, marketing, finance, HR, contract administration, and other internal teams across the studio.


This position will report to the EVP, Business & Legal Affairs and Corporate and is based in Beverly Hills, CA, requiring an in-office presence of at least three days a week.


Core Responsibilities

  • Negotiate all aspects of scripted and unscripted television programming deals with talent agents, attorneys, and third parties, including profit participation, rights agreements, co-production agreements, and overall/first-look deals, in direct liaison with relevant studio stakeholders.
  • Draft and negotiate short-form deal memos, long-form agreements, and other talent-related agreements.
  • Independently guide television series projects from development through delivery, including advising on production legal, guild, and clearance matters.
  • Interface daily with creative, production, marketing, finance, and contract administration teams.
  • Review budgets and financial materials associated with the development and production of programming.
  • Work closely with internal business and creative executives to implement best practices, formulate new processes, maintain accurate project tracking, retain project documentation, and create and revise agreement templates.
  • Oversee production legal and clearance issues during production.
  • Review chain-of-title, underlying rights, and access agreements.
  • Work closely with production teams to ensure legal paperwork remains compliant with corporate requirements and assist with production-related legal matters as they arise.
  • Partner directly with and communicate regularly alongside third-party production companies.
  • Provide broader business and legal support across the Wonder Project studio as needed.


Qualifications

  • Minimum 5–7 years of experience in scripted television business affairs, with additional unscripted business affairs or legal affairs experience preferred.
  • Strong and effective negotiating skills, excellent drafting skills, and solid relationships within the talent community.
  • Ability to independently handle all aspects of television business and legal affairs with minimal supervision, including day-to-day production operations.
  • Working knowledge of SAG, WGA, DGA Basic Agreements, and the AFTRA Code.
  • Significant experience drafting and negotiating contracts.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical capabilities and judgment.
  • Ability to work proactively, independently, and reliably under tight timelines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Curiosity and willingness to tackle matters outside areas of expertise.
  • JD degree and active bar admission in CA or NY required.


Salary & Benefits:

Salary: $210,000 – $225,000 + bonus

Equity participation in management option pool (Series A company)
