About the Role:

The Wonder Project is seeking a Book / IP Rights executive to oversee the procurement and creative development of books, articles, life rights, remake rights, etc. for development as narrative film and television projects.  Additionally, the executive will identify and develop ideas and concepts for film and creatively supervise productions.   



Day to Day:

  • Work with the CCO, the VP Film - Development & Production  and the Sr. Adviser to the Studio along with other leaders on the strategy to grow unique, compelling, and brand-appropriate feature films.

  • Generate, acquire, evaluate, and develop concepts to make into feature films.

  • Lead the creative process to develop, drive decisions to ensure that Wonder acquires and develops the appropriate projects in order to develop the best filmed entertainment possible in an effort to further Wonder’s creative and business goals.

  • Develop relationships with established talent (literary agents, literary editors, authors, life-rights holders, screenwriters, producers, directors, actors, filmmakers), identify up-and-coming talent, and actively pursue opportunities with these people.

  • Closely partner with all relevant departments on various issues (Business Affairs, Production, PR, Marketing, Partnerships, Casting, Promotions, Distribution, etc.).

  • Actively take charge of problem solving and crisis management resolution with studio partners and outside partners on production issues.



What you bring to the table:

  • Relevant experience at a similar scope and scale company that develops/produces commercially successful programming.

  • A track-record of developing or finding material and executing on creative initiatives.

  • An effective manager with an understanding of organizations and a history of generating positive, productive work environments.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the feature film development and production process.

  • Deep understanding of the The Wonder Project brand and audience

  • Strong and existing relationships with managers, production companies, agents, writers, directors, producers, etc.

  • Outstanding presence and an ability to earn respect and create rapport with the creative industry, The Wonder Project executive teams, all levels of employees.

  • Effective communication skills.

  • Impeccable personal and business ethics.



Salary & Benefits

Salary + Bonus Range:  $175,000-$250,000

Equity participation in management option pool (Series A company)
