About the role

Our engineering team, within our business division, is looking for a driven and collaborative project/product manager to help maximize the impact of our engineering efforts. This role is very cross-functional and unique, and will not fit into a certain box. In it, you’ll serve as a hybrid between a product and project manager, helping define product initiatives and working with stakeholders across the business to manage engineering execution. You will also play a crucial role in executing, supporting, and enhancing the processes that enable smooth operation and continuous improvement of our engineering team.

What you'll do

  • Work with Engineering and Cross-Functional Stakeholders: Write and own product / feature requirement documents, and break down product requests into well-defined initiatives with executable milestones.
  • Serve as Scrum Leader: Run sprint ceremonies, host sprint retros, track and coordinate sprint refinements, and set up sprints.
  • Manage Execution: Oversee the delivery of long-term company objectives while balancing short-term or urgent initiatives.
  • Manage the Backlog: Groom and manage the product backlog by reviewing, refining, and prioritizing tasks from multiple teams; ensure stories are well-scoped and ready for development by auditing designs, writing user stories, evaluating implementation details, identifying side effects, and considering UI/UX, and tracking needs.
  • Product Vision Execution: Translate feature vision and strategic goals into actionable requirements, working closely with stakeholders to surface gaps and dependencies. Articulate the “why” and “what” behind features and requirements, and work with engineering to plan the “how”.
  • Advocate for Process Improvements: Spot gaps in product development processes and advocate for improvements to enhance team impact.
  • Contribute to Quarterly Planning: Conduct research to identify business opportunities and contribute to our quarterly planning and initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 3+ years as a project manager, product manager, or similar position with significant overlap in managing complex technical projects.
  • Cross-functional Management: Experience managing cross-functional teams and coordinating launches.
  • Detail-oriented: Excellent attention to detail; ability to audit engineering tickets for completeness and accuracy.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication abilities to act as a liaison between engineering and other teams.
  • Agile Proficiency: Fluent with Agile methodologies and tools (e.g., Jira, Asana).
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and planning abilities to balance long-term objectives with urgent initiatives.
  • Requirement Gathering and Scoping: Experience in gathering requirements and scoping large initiatives, and breaking down work into actionable milestones.
  • Work Authorization Requirement: Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future visa sponsorship.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field.
  • Agile Experience: Proven experience serving in Agile roles and running sprint ceremonies.
  • Industry Experience: Experience working in Media.
  • Design and Tracking Proficiency: Familiarity with UI/UX design principles and tracking concepts.
