About the opportunity:

We’re looking for a top-flight finance reporter to cover the money pouring into AI and the rest of tech. The role will put the reporter in the center of the biggest tech boom ever, and maybe the biggest tech bust ever. The reporter will cover the big pots of money flowing into tech: private equity, private credit, sovereign wealth funds, mutual funds, insurance companies, wealthy individuals and the big tech companies themselves. Building sources among the bankers and other intermediaries who serve these organizations will be critical. The reporter should have a deep understanding of finance and markets, and a good news judgment to prioritize coverage amid the flood of news. 

The role will be part of The Information’s growing finance team, which is on the front lines of our AI coverage. We regularly break news on deals, fundraising, new financing strategies and the circular money flows that have characterized the AI build-out. 

What you’ll do: 

• Write exclusive stories on the money pouring into AI
• Break news on deals, financings and strategy
• Follow the money to spot trends and new risks
• Dig deep into the players funding the AI build-out
• Be the first to spot pockets of risk and dodgy deals
• Collaborate with reporters covering tech and finance

Qualifications: 

• 4+ years of reporting experience
• A strong understanding of finance and markets
• A proven track record of breaking news

What success looks like in your first 3-6 months:

• Produce exclusive stories on the financing of AI and tech.
• Build a body of sources to track the flow of cash in and around tech.
• Collaborate with other reporters on complicated, sprawling stories.

We can only accept applications from those eligible to live and work in the United States. This is a hybrid role with office attendance required 3 days/week.

Salary Range: $140,000-$180,000 USD Annually + Bonus + Benefits
