Tilda Research, Inc.

Copy of Automation Engineer — SDET

About the Role

Tilda Research is looking for an experienced Automation Engineer / SDET with 4–10 years of experience to help improve the quality, reliability, and speed of our software delivery.

We’re looking for someone who is highly technical, hands-on, and experienced in building automation frameworks—not simply using existing ones. This person will also actively use AI-assisted engineering and testing tools to improve automation, test coverage, troubleshooting, and overall QA efficiency.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable automation frameworks for web applications, APIs, and backend services.
  • Develop automated functional, integration, regression, API, and end-to-end testing using tools such as WebdriverIO, Playwright, and Pytest.
  • Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines, improving test coverage, release quality, and deployment confidence.
  • Use AI tools to accelerate test creation, identify edge cases, analyze failures, debug automation, and reduce repetitive QA work.
  • Partner closely with Engineering and Product to identify quality risks, troubleshoot complex issues, and ensure quality throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Continuously improve test reliability, execution speed, automation coverage, and engineering productivity.

What We're Looking For

  • 4–10 years of experience as an Automation Engineer, SDET, QA Automation Engineer, or similar role.
  • Strong programming skills in JavaScript/TypeScript and/or Python.
  • Hands-on experience with WebdriverIO, Playwright, Pytest, or similar modern automation frameworks.
  • Proven experience designing and building automation frameworks from the ground up.
  • Strong experience with API testing and automation.
  • Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or similar tools.
  • Demonstrated experience using AI-assisted development/testing tools to improve automation, testing, debugging, or engineering productivity.
  • Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, debugging, and root-cause analysis.

AI & Automation

We expect our engineers to actively use AI as part of their day-to-day work. Experience with tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar AI development tools is highly valued.

You should be comfortable using AI to:

  • Create and improve automated tests.
  • Generate test scenarios and identify edge cases.
  • Analyze logs and troubleshoot failures.
  • Debug and maintain automation.
  • Generate test data.
  • Identify gaps in test coverage.
  • Automate repetitive QA workflows.

We are looking for someone who goes beyond simply using AI as a chatbot and can demonstrate how they use it to engineer, test, and ship better software faster.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience testing modern SaaS applications.
  • Experience with AWS or other cloud environments.
  • Exposure to Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with performance, security, or reliability testing.
  • Experience testing AI-powered applications, LLM features, or agentic workflows.
  • Experience with healthcare, clinical research, life sciences, or another regulated industry.
  • Experience in a startup or high-growth technology environment.

What Makes You a Strong Fit

You’ll likely thrive at Tilda if you enjoy building automation rather than performing repetitive manual testing, can write production-quality code, actively use AI to improve your work, and enjoy solving complex technical problems in a fast-moving environment.

About Tilda

Tilda Research is reimagining how clinical trials are run by bringing AI-native tools and AI teammates into clinical research operations. Our technology works alongside sponsor, CRO, and research teams to simplify study management, improve data quality, support real-time oversight, and help accelerate trial timelines.

We are building the future of clinical trial execution: one where research teams can spend less time on administrative bottlenecks and more time focused on patients, sites, and the work that moves new treatments forward. Tilda’s mission is rooted in the belief that clinical research should be faster, more efficient, more scalable, and more accessible — without losing the human judgment and care that patients and research teams deserve.

At Tilda, we are a team of builders, operators, researchers, and problem-solvers working at the intersection of healthcare, technology, and AI. We move quickly, think deeply, and care about building products and systems that create meaningful impact in the clinical research industry.
