What are the hours like?

  • This position is full-time, 40 hours per week.

What are the duties and responsibilities?

  • General Administrative Functions
    • Track additional charges and copy to parent accounts as needed
    • Assist with enrolling new families
    • Assist with inventory and ordering
    • Maintain child files
    • Provide families with information and assistance with community resources
    • Maintain a professional attitude and loyalty to the center at all times
    • Attend all staff meetings and recommended training programs and conferences
    • Participate fully to any fundraising activities given to the center
    • Other duties as assigned by the Center Director and/or Childcare Program Manager
  • Center Management and Quality of Care
    • Ensure quality of care is excellent and families are well taken care of
    • Maintain a positive rapport with families, children and staff at all times
    • Assist with the arrangement, appearance, décor and learning environment of the classroom and its learning centers
    • Ensure policies and procedures that ensure the well-being of children are followed, such as:
    • Developmentally appropriate curriculum
    • Positive behavior management plans
    • Safe arrival and departure
    • Assist with general housekeeping tasks
    • Clean bathroom, kitchen and laundry areas as needed
    • Take out garbage as needed
  • Compliance
    • Maintain appropriate staff ratios
    • Follow all Department of Human Services Regulations at all times with no exceptions
    • Assist Center Director with participation in NAEYC and/or Keystone STARS grant program
    • Know the number and names of all children in your group at all times while in ratio
    • Report cases of suspected child abuse/neglect according to PA State Law with HR Support when necessary
  • Management and Supervision
    • Assist Center Supervisor with training new staff as they begin
    • Establish and maintain a healthy, safe and fun working environment
    • Provide support to staff and maintain employee confidentiality
    • Supervise all activities to ensure safety at all times

What are the required qualifications?

  • A high school diploma or a general educational development certificate and 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human service field.
  • A high school diploma or a general educational development certificate, including 600 hours of secondary training (CCP or CDA).
  • A high school diploma or a general educational development certificate, 15 credit hours from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human service field and 1 year of experience with children.
  • A high school diploma or a general educational development certificate and completion of a post-secondary training curriculum (CCP or CDA).
  • A high school diploma or a general educational development certificate and 2 years of experience with children.

Other:

  • Appropriate clearances: PA State Criminal History Record, Child Abuse Report, FBI Criminal History (PDE and DHS), NSOR Clearance and Mandated Reporter Trainings.  
  • First Aid – CPR Certification 
  • Trainings as required by PA Department of Human Services, Department of Education, PKC, and/or The Learning Lamp 
  • Clearances, trainings, physicals, and certifications must be kept current

What are the physical requirements? 

  • Ability to lift, push, pull and/or carry up to 40 pounds on a regular basis 
  • Sitting, standing, walking, bending and stooping for long periods of time up to eight hours per day
