We are looking for a Full-Time Before/After School Program Director to work in our Richland Before and After School Program.

What are the hours like?

  • Our centers are open Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Before and After School Programs run 6 AM – 8:30 AM and 2:30 PM – 6 PM.
  • Full-time employees also work at child care locations or our administrative office between those hours on certain days.

What are the duties and responsibilities?


Site Management 

  • Track parent payments and maintain contact with agency Accountant and Accounting Specialist regarding payment history 
  • Enroll new families and maintain updated files on children 
  • Work with Director of Finance to meet center budget 
  • Work with Human Resources Director and Director of School Age Programs to hire and provide orientation to new staff 
  • Maintain progress records of each child’s growth and development, prepare periodic reports and review with parents 
  • Be responsible for the ordered arrangement, appearance, décor and learning environment of the classroom and its learning centers 
  • Facilitate regular staff meetings 
  • Responsible for monthly center newsletters, staff schedules and snack and activity calendars 
  • Complete attendance checklist spreadsheet for each month 
  • Effectively train, supervise and utilize Group Supervisors, Assistant Group Supervisors and volunteers 
  • Compose weekly Director’s Report and submit to the Director of School-Age Programs 
  • Participate in recommended training programs, conferences, courses and other aspects of professional growth to maintain current knowledge of early childhood practices 
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of School-Age Programs or other administrators

Regulation Compliance

  • Maintain appropriate staff ratios with consideration for quality of care and payroll costs 
  • Follow all Department of Human Services regulations at all times with no exceptions 
  • Meet or exceed training requirements for center director as specified by NAEYC and Keystone STARS 
  • Oversee participation in Keystone STARS grant program 
  • Report cases of suspected child abuse/neglect according to PA State Law 

 Management and Supervision 

  • Oversee training/professional development of staff 
  • Follow new staff hires with a 90 day-review and 6 month review moving to an annual review based on anniversary date 
  • Notify Human Resources Department of any changes in staff and/or their positions and hours via Change Request Submission
  • Maintain a professional attitude and loyalty to the organization at all times 
  • Supervise all activities to ensure safety at all times 
  • Supervise upkeep of all educational equipment and materials in assigned area 

 Quality of Care 

  • Display a friendly, positive attitude toward children, parents and fellow staff members at all times 
  • Be engaged with the children at all times 
  • Ensure quality of care is excellent and families are well taken care of 
  • Maintain positive relationship with school building employees and school administrators 
  • Treat all children with dignity and respect 

What are the required qualifications?

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or human services and 1 year experience with children 
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, including 30 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or human services and 2 years’ experience with children 
  • An associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or human services and 3 years of experience with children 
  • An associate’s degree from an accredited college or university, including 30 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or human services and 4 years of experience with children 

Other:  

  • Appropriate clearances and trainings: PA State Criminal History Record, Child Abuse Report, FBI Criminal History Report, and Mandated Reporter Training. Clearances must be kept current. 
  • CPR Certification 
  • Physical done within one year prior to start date 
  • TB test within three months prior to start date 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds on a regular basis 
  • Sitting, standing, walking, bending and stopping for long periods of time up to eight hours per day
