Drift Nashville is searching for a Part-Time Hotel Maintenance Engineer to join our team! 

About the role

The primary responsibility of the  Engineering Ambassador is to assist the General Manager with overall property condition, routine preventative maintenance, responding to guest requests/work orders, coordinating vendor projects and improving the overall aesthetics of the property. 

What you'll do

  • Complete routine property grounds walks to maintain overall cleanliness and property condition. 

  • Complete routine preventative maintenance for various guest rooms as directed by the General Manager and PM checklist.

  • Be courteous to all guests when responding to work order requests. Engineering staff is expected to interact with guests and use the guest's names. 

  • Assist the General  Manager by meeting with vendors, obtaining quotes on project items, and conveying this information to leadership.

  • Explore ways to be more efficient in the department and property. 

  • Collaborate with landscaping on any items needing repaired/worked on. 

  • Operate, repair, and maintain all pumps, boilers, motors, electrical systems, refrigeration systems, lighting, hotel appliance, and the hotel paint

  • Maintain the condition of the guest hallway/corridors with routine touch-up painting. 

  • Utilize property software to complete, track and add notes to all property issues for tracking purposes.

  • Fielding guest complaints while maintaining professional dialogue with guests and finding resolutions to satisfaction. Maintain complete knowledge at all times of all hotel features/services, activities, and events. 

  • Ensure a shift/daily pass-down log is implemented and used to improve communication amongst staff.

  • Inspect, plan and ensure that all materials, workspaces, and equipment are in complete readiness for service and up to health code. 

  • Assist guests with reports of lost/stolen articles, following hotel policy. 

  • Adhere to hotel requirements for guest/employee accidents or injuries and in emergency situations. 

  • Foster and promote a cooperative working climate with all associates.

  • Review contracts and negotiate revisions, changes, and additions to contractual agreements with vendors, consultants, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors

  • Prepare and submit budget estimates and progress and cost tracking

  • Work with General Manager on any Capital projects

  • Develop and implement quality control programs. Ensure SOP are created and followed.

  • Capable of working with building codes officials, planning/zoning officials and community design committees when required

  • Experience in managing utility systems

  • Prior equipment specifying and purchasing experience preferred

  • Work closely with General Manager on any issues

  • Work closely with housekeeping supervisors

  • Review status of assigned projects and daily assignments and any follow-up action with on-coming staff. 

  • Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all department policies/service procedures/standards. Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment.

  • Anticipate guest needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests, however busy and whatever time of the day.

  • Maintain positive guest relations at all times. 

  • Resolve guest complaints and concerns to ensure guest satisfaction. Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas. Pass any key information over to management.

  • Assist the housekeeping department with any tasks needed to make the team successful.

  • Be able to multitask and be ready for many situations

  • Visually inspect and test machinery and equipment

  • Repair and maintain physical structure of establishments

  • Attend all scheduled training classes, line up and meetings

  • Communicate with General Manager and Supervisor on project or concerns of the property

  • Respond to all customer inquiries in a timely manner

  • Ensure communication with SAGEC team on status of room and any communication needed is done in a efficient manner

  • Maintain a high level of cleanliness and organization


  • Previous engineering experience in the hospitality industry.

  • Must exhibit good judgment while performing under pressure.

  • General understanding of engineering equipment, tools and various trades such as plumbing, electrical, HVAC and more.

  • Must be dedicated to our goal of providing superior guest experiences.

  • Must be computer literate in Microsoft Office and general computer usage.

The pay range for this role is:

22 - 22 USD per hour (Drift Nashville)
