About the role
The Director of Human Resources leads the company’s HR function and drives the development and execution of people strategies that support our fast growth. Reporting to the COO, this role is responsible for the daily operations and strategic development of all aspects of HR, including talent management, employee relations, benefits administration, internal communication, compliance, compensation, and learning and development. The ideal candidate is an inspirational people leader who can translate organizational goals into HR initiatives, build scalable processes, and foster a culture of performance, accountability, and collaboration. They are intellectually curious, driven, and comfortable with change and ambiguity.
What you'll do
- Lead and manage the full scope of HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, compensation and benefits, compliance, performance management, and offboarding.
- Establish a multi-year department roadmap for maturing talent management programs and systems.
- Translate organizational strategy into department strategy with quarterly goals/rocks that give each team member a line of sight into why their work matters with measurable results.
- Direct the HR business partner team that leads employee advocacy and partners with business areas for workforce strategy, leave administration, compliance, performance management, and change management initiatives.
- Design and oversee world-class, high-velocity recruiting teams focused on quality candidates and the candidate experience.
- Establish and maintain leadership succession plans supported by development plans.
- Oversee payroll administration and ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations.
- Manage internal communication strategies to ensure transparency and employee engagement.
- Advance career progression frameworks as the business matures and aligned with professional best practices.
- Partner with cross-functional leadership to develop and deliver training programs that drive professional growth and skill development.
- Maintain and continuously improve HR policies, practices, and systems aligned with company values and strategic goals.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on HR matters, employee engagement, and organizational structure.
- Lead the administration of benefits programs and compensation reviews.
- Ensure compliance with employment laws in all jurisdictions where TopDog Law/ TopDog Technologies operates.
- Coordinate the quarterly State of the Company meetings and Core Value Awards.
- Use data to track trends, identify risks, and propose people-focused solutions that support a high-performance culture.
- Manage vendor relationships for payroll, benefits, LMS, and other HR systems ensuring SLAs are met and negotiating the most favorable terms and service levels for the company.
- Build and lead the HR team to support a growing, multi-state workforce.
Qualifications
- 10 years of senior HR leadership experience.
- Five years of experience in multi-state HR administration.
- Organizational design and leading organizations through change and restructuring.
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills to communicate internally and externally at all levels of the organization.
- Proficiency in selecting, implementing, and using HRIS, LMS, and payroll platforms (experience with Rippling a plus).
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, remote-first environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field or equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in call center environments
- Experience in rapidly scaling companies
- Certification PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP
- Experience in companies that practice EOS

The pay range for this role is:
150,000 - 180,000 USD per year (Remote)
