About the role

We’re looking for a forward-thinking Controller to own and elevate our accounting operations - using modern tools and AI to deliver a fast, reliable, and insight-rich close. If you love clean books, smart systems, and better ways of doing things, this is your seat.

You’ll be the owner of our books, controls, and accounting systems, partnering closely with the CFO to scale a data-driven, automation-heavy finance stack.

What you'll do

Accounting Operations & General Ledger

  • Own the accuracy and timeliness of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closes
  • Oversee general ledger accounting, journal entries, account reconciliations, and accruals
  • Ensure US GAAP compliance across all entities and accounts
  • Maintain an effective chart of accounts that supports reporting and analysis

Consolidation & Financial Reporting

  • Prepare consolidated financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) on a monthly basis
  • Manage intercompany eliminations, FX translation, and consolidation adjustments
  • Provide variance analysis and commentary on financial performance versus budget and prior periods
  • Support preparation of management reporting, board reporting, and lender reporting as needed

Policies, Controls, and Compliance

  • Design, implement, and maintain accounting policies, internal controls, and procedures
  • Develop documentation for key processes to support scale and audit readiness
  • Support external advisors on tax, audit, and regulatory matters as the company grows

Systems, Automation, and Process Improvement

  • Serve as the functional owner of NetSuite ERP and related accounting systems (AP, AR, expense management, payroll integrations)
  • Identify opportunities to automate and streamline accounting workflows, including close, reconciliations, and reporting
  • Partner with data / engineering teams to align source systems, data models, and BI reporting with the general ledger
  • Drive continuous improvement in process efficiency, data quality, and financial controls

Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Partner with FP&A on actuals vs. plan analysis and budgeting/forecasting support
  • Collaborate with GTM, Product, Operations, and Data teams to ensure new products, pricing, and programs are correctly captured in the financials
  • Provide accounting guidance on new business initiatives, contracts, and partner agreements

What makes you a great fit

Must-have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Active CPA license (or equivalent US public accounting qualification)
  • 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, including ownership of month-end close and financial reporting in a high-growth environment (technology, SaaS, fintech, or similar)
  • Strong command of US GAAP, core controllership disciplines, and technical accounting fundamentals
  • Hands-on experience with NetSuite ERP (administration, configuration, or power user)
  • Experience with a modern accounting tech stack (e.g., AP automation, expense management, revenue tools, BI tools)
  • Demonstrated experience building or re-building accounting processes and controls, not just maintaining existing ones
  • Ability to work at both detailed (journal entries, reconciliations) and system design levels
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to accuracy and completeness
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain financial concepts to non-finance stakeholders
  • Mindset oriented toward automation, systematization, and use of AI and tools to reduce manual work

Nice-to-have

  • Experience in fintech, payments, stored value, or B2B SaaS
  • Experience preparing for or managing a first-time audit
  • Comfort working with data teams and modern data stacks to reconcile system-of-record vs BI outputs
  • Experience implementing or migrating to NetSuite in a growth-stage environment

What success looks like

  • Consistent and predictable monthly close with defined timelines and reduced post-close adjustments
  • Accurate financial statements and management reports that the CFO, CEO, and board rely on as the single source of truth
  • Documented accounting policies, process maps, and control procedures that support scale and onboarding
  • Measurable improvements in process efficiency, such as reduced close cycle time and lower manual workload
  • Implementation of automation and/or AI-driven workflows that eliminate manual steps in close, reconciliation, or reporting
  • Strong cross-functional relationships with GTM, Product, Operations, and Data
