Team Touchstone Assistant Coach - Class 5

Class 5 is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic coach to work with our new Development Team on Wednesdays and Fridays. In addition, the coach should be available to substitute for other youth programs, such as our After-School Camp (Tuesdays and Thursdays), Club (Wednesdays and Fridays), and Varsity/JV Team (Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays). All coaching shifts occur between 3:45 PM and 7:30 PM. The ideal candidate will bring a strong climbing background, a passion for coaching youth, and a creative approach to instruction. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the next generation of climbers in a supportive and engaging environment. This job starts ASAP. 


Key Responsibilities:

  • Coach the Dev Team and/or Camp and Club, focusing on bouldering, top rope, and lead climbing.
  • Teach and reinforce climbing techniques such as footwork, body positioning, movement efficiency, and route reading.
  • Develop and lead strength training programs tailored to the needs of youth climbers, emphasizing injury prevention and appropriate strength gains.
  • Create an enjoyable and engaging learning environment for kids of various ability levels and learning styles.
  • Collaborate with other coaches to design and implement high-quality training programs for Team Touchstone.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive team culture that promotes growth, learning, and a love for climbing.

Qualifications:

  • Climbing Experience: Proficient in bouldering, top rope, and lead climbing with a solid understanding of climbing fundamentals.
  • Coaching Skills: Ability to explain climbing techniques clearly and effectively to youth athletes.
  • Passion for Youth Development: Patient, enthusiastic, and capable of working with kids of different ages and skill levels.
  • Creative Instruction: Innovative in creating fun, engaging, and effective coaching sessions.
  • Collaboration: Excited to work as part of a team to provide an exceptional experience for our climbers.
  • Availability: Must be available to coach on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM, and Fridays from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Competition Climbing Experience: Experience in competitive climbing is desirable, but not required.

Compensation

Starting Pay is $21.50/hour. Assistant Team Coach individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to; facility location and type, membership volume, experience, and job/position tenure.
