Position Overview

The HR Generalist is a critical member of the HR team, managing key operational tasks to support employees and ensure compliance with employment laws. This position oversees a variety of HR functions, including employee relations, benefits administration, compliance, training, and performance management. The HR Generalist serves as the primary point of contact for day-to-day HR-related inquiries and works closely with leadership to implement HR policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the company recruitment and onboarding process, including job requisition creation, position request approvals, offer letter administration, and processing background checks.
  • Maintain and administer HRIS (Rippling) for recruitment, employee data updates, and compliance tracking; provide IT support for HRIS-related issues.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for managers regarding HR policies, compliance, and legal updates.
  • Maintain and update Employee Information/Postings drive, ensuring annual document compliance.
  • Provide HR guidance to department managers regarding employee relations, leave of absence requests, and return-to-work processes.
  • Manage agency correspondence for leave claims and provide case updates to managers.
  • Process and track payroll reporting for workers’ compensation insurance payouts and maintain workers' compensation claims portal.
  • Educate employees on leave programs, eligibility, and return-to-work procedures; process SDI, PFL, and FMLA claims in coordination with insurance brokers.
  • Update and maintain HR documentation, including policy updates, labor law postings, and compliance audits.
  • Collaborate with the HR Director on strategic HR initiatives, including policy creation and labor union requests.
  • Coordinate travel and training sessions for the HR Director and HR team.
  • Perform monthly HR invoice and expense reconciliation.
  • Attend HR development trainings to ensure compliance with evolving employment laws.
  • Assist with payroll, personnel data reporting, and HR projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 2–4 years of experience in an HR Generalist or related role.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems (e.g., Rippling) and compliance software.
  • Strong knowledge of California labor laws and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience supporting a unionized workforce is preferred.

Compensation

$70,000–$90,000 annually for SoCal candidates, depending on experience.
