Senior Vice President, Project Finance and Capital Markets

Preferred work location is Seattle, WA, but the hiring team is open to Tract's headquarters in Denver, CO, its satellite office in Alexandria, or remote in Austin, TX.

The Senior Vice President, Project Finance and Capital Markets will be a senior leader within Tract's Energy team, responsible for evaluating and executing on Tract’s Power Generation portfolio opportunities – including greenfield development and M&A. This role’s main focus will be on natural gas and battery development, infrastructure, and related technologies.


This will be a critical leadership role in shaping the financial strategy and overseeing all financial operations for the company's natural gas power generation portfolio, including existing assets and new development projects.


This individual will be responsible for driving financial performance, optimizing capital structure, managing risk, and leading financial aspects of project development, M&A, and asset optimization. A deep understanding of the energy markets, project finance, and regulatory landscape is essential.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Financial Leadership:
    • Partner with executive leadership to develop and execute financial strategies that support the company's objectives
    • Provide strategic financial insights and recommendations on investment opportunities, capital allocation, and business development initiatives.
    • Proactively identify and cultivate investment opportunities in the power plant development sector, including large scale (front of the meter) and Islanded generation across all technologies
    • Develop and maintain an extensive network of industry contacts, including management teams, advisors, investment banks, and other private equity firms.
    • Represent the firm at industry conferences, events, and networking functions.
  • New Project Development, M&A and Project Finance :
    • Lead and manage the financial aspects of new natural gas power plant and Battery Storage development projects from inception to commercial operation. Structure, negotiate, and execute project financing, including debt, equity, and tax equity for new project development and M&A
    • Lead development and maintenance of sophisticated financial models to evaluate project viability, assess returns, and analyze various scenarios (e.g., commodity price fluctuations, regulatory changes).
    • Collaborate closely with development, engineering, legal, and commercial teams to optimize project economics and mitigate risks.

Capital Markets & Treasury:

  • Manage the company's capital structure, including debt management, hedging strategies, and liquidity.
    • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with banks, financial institutions, investors, and credit rating agencies.
    • Oversee cash flow forecasting, working capital management, and investment decisions.
  • Team Leadership and Development:
    • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team.
    • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and collaboration within the finance function.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
  • 12+ years of progressive finance experience, with at least 5+ years in a leadership role within the Energy Independent Power Producer (IPP), Private Equity or Investment Banking industry, focusing on the energy sector, specifically with exposure to natural gas or battery assets.
  • 7+ years' experience in project finance, corporate finance, and capital markets within the energy industry.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA or CFA
  • Proven track record of successfully closing complex project financing deals for large-scale energy infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of wholesale power markets (e.g., ERCOT, PJM, CAISO) and natural gas commodity markets.
  • Demonstrated analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • High level of integrity and strong ethical standards.

 

Expected Total Compensation Range (Base + Bonus):  $500,000-$550,000
