Risk Advisory is looking for Research Associates and Associates to join our global team in our Singapore office.

About Risk Advisory 

Risk Advisory advises clients on the risks and opportunities connected to commercial relationships, transactions, disputes, market entry and sensitive strategic decisions.

Our work combines advanced AI-driven research and analysis with a global intelligence network built and refined over 25 years.  This starts with identifying and analysing information from a wide range of public records, open sources, human sources and specialist databases. We then apply our collective experience and judgement to assess regulatory, political, reputational, integrity and operational risks, and present our findings in clear, concise and carefully evidenced reports.

As part of our Singapore team, you will work closely with colleagues across our international network and contribute to the development of our growing client base in the Asia Pacific region.

We are recruiting at two levels: 

Research Associate

This role is suited to recent graduates or candidates with limited professional experience who can demonstrate strong academic performance, excellent research skills across a variety of AI and other online platforms, the ability to write clearly and concisely, intellectual curiosity, and a serious interest in investigations, politics, economics, business, law, journalism, compliance or risk advisory work. Research Associates will support larger assignments by conducting targeted research, reviewing source material, identifying relevant findings and contributing to written analysis under the guidance of more experienced colleagues.

Associate

This role is suited to candidates with around two to four years’ relevant work experience, ideally in corporate investigations, business intelligence, due diligence, journalism, consulting, legal services, political risk, compliance or a related field. Associates will be expected to conduct independent research, analyse complex information, draft sections of client reports, manage discrete workstreams and contribute to the delivery of high-quality client work.

Responsibilities

Depending on level and experience, you will be expected to:

• Conduct investigative research using public records, open sources, databases and other relevant resources using AI and other proprietary online platforms.
• Analyse corporate, regulatory, political, reputational and integrity risks across Asia-Pacific and beyond. 
• Identify relevant sources of information and assess their reliability, significance and limitations.
• Produce clear, concise and well-evidenced written analysis for internal and client audiences.
• Contribute to due diligence, business intelligence, litigation support, market entry and strategic advisory assignments.
• Manage multiple tasks or projects, often against tight deadlines.
• Exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive information and identifying risks to clients and to Risk Advisory.
• Liaise with clients and advisers where appropriate.
• Support, mentor, or review the work of junior colleagues, depending on seniority.
• Contribute to the development of a growing regional client base.

Requirements

We are interested in candidates who can demonstrate:

• Excellent research, analytical and writing skills.
• A demonstrable interest and aptitude in using AI to accelerate and extend the reach of our research process
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to make sense of complex or incomplete information.
• Intellectual curiosity, persistence and creativity in approaching research problems.
• A strong interest in regional politics, economics, business and regulatory issues.
• Near-native spoken and written English.
• Fluency in one or more regional languages would be highly advantageous. Languages of particular interest include Mandarin Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Indonesian, Vietnamese, Malay, Thai and Hindi.
• Experience living, studying or working in one or more Asia-Pacific markets would be an advantage.
• The ability to work independently while recognising when to escalate issues, risks or uncertainties.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in an international team.

We are particularly interested in experience involving investigative due diligence, political and regulatory risk, reputational risk, fraud, corruption, asset tracing, disputes, market entry, strategic intelligence or other complex research-led assignments.
