Who We Are

Tread serves the $660Bn Global Construction Materials market with a unifying software platform that helps materials producers, haulers, and construction contractors connect, collaborate, and transact. We are bringing consumer grade software to a category that has been deeply overlooked, for an audience that is responsible for our built world, and sorely needs software to drive profitability and performance.

Founded in 2016, Tread has recently relaunched its software platform on an entirely re-designed and re-built platform on a modern, scalable, and flexible technology stack. We are looking for talented, high agency individuals that are looking to execute with velocity, drive impact, and collaborate on teams with a bias for action. At Tread, you will learn to balance the tightrope of a high quality bar with ever increasing need for speed. Hear what our team has to say by browsing our blog.

Why We’re Hiring For This Role:

Tread delivers a software platform that transforms the complex order to cash workflow into beautiful consumer grade software that makes all construction materials management stakeholders' lives easy and less chaotic. Over time, our software will transition from a workflow aide, to a true co-pilot. Managing this transition requires gaining the trust of our users, and delivering this experience in a well-designed, simple and easy to understand interface is critical.

We serve a multi-stakeholder audience and are rapidly expanding the surface area of our application as a true end to end system of record. We are looking for a product designer who is excited to work closely with the CEO and engineering team to understand customer requirements, and design products to deliver functional simplicity to the end customer. We are looking to add a full time product designer who is comfortable building across web, mobile apps, and mobile web experiences.

What You’ll be Responsible For:

As a Product Designer at Tread, your primary responsibility will be working with our CEO and engineering team to design products across web, mobile, and mobile web that drive operational efficiencies and profitability for our customers. You will be primarily focused on low-process, high-velocity product design, with rapid iterations from low to hi-fi Figma deliverables. You will be responsible for maintaining our common UI/UX patterns, and designing for implementation simplicity for our engineering team. You’ll be involved both with product scoping and with engineering execution.

Early on, you’ll jump right into:

  • Familiarize yourself with our product, customers, industry, and figma files

  • Immediately jump into design execution, leaning heavily on CEO to learn and make well-informed decisions through team-work and collaboration

  • Get involved with product execution and engineering team, offering up help and getting quick wins with the existing product

  • Review session recordings to understand the gaps between product design and customer behavior

As you get more comfortable, you will:

  • Work with CEO and product to design new workflows and new product solutions

  • Establish more cohesive design principles and design systems

  • Design and develop clickable figma prototypes in advance of development

  • Prep production ready files for both dev and marketing

  • Continue to focus on design velocity, and how it translates to product and development velocity

  • Several years of designing interactive applications

  • Excellent visual, UI, and interaction skills

  • Comfortable working in a low-process, highly opinionated product environment

  • No ego / high humility - design is opinionated and forged in the fire of feedback, both team and users

  • Desire and ability to work closely with engineers and other partners to ensure a high-quality implementation - work does not end with a Figma file!

  • Passion for design and figuring out best-in-class solutions to UX, UI, and interaction challenges

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to think through complex interaction design

  • Expressing ideas through visuals and prototyping (Tread uses Figma)

  • Experience with design systems, programming, and using technical tools is a major +

  • Enthusiasm for latest trends in design, including GenAI and modern tooling for the discipline

In Office Expectations:

At this critical stage in our company's growth, the ability to rapidly iterate, collaborate, and accelerate company velocity are key to our success. Having operated remotely for the past 18 months, we've observed challenges in maintaining the pace of our progress, cultivating inter-departmental relationships, and sustaining overall job satisfaction without regular in-person interactions. We recognize that this perspective might not be for everyone, and we respect that. However, we are specifically looking for candidates who are enthusiastic about collaborating in person. Our in-office policy is designed to be flexible, yet we anticipate spending the majority of the workweek together at our office. This expectation accommodates necessary exceptions for travel and personal time off (PTO).

Why You’ll Love Working at Tread:

Tread is building the next billion dollar construction tech software company, and knows that a combination of passion, hard work, and resilience is what will get us there. Our team members joined Tread because they were excited to work with passionate people who cared about solving real problems with urgency. Tread aims to unlock an environment where every individual can learn from their colleagues daily, and deliver impact at every level and role within the organization. We aim to make our customers’ lives dramatically better, and take that commitment seriously. We understand that hard work is a required element of doing anything extraordinary, but are comfortable with providing flexibility in location, work schedules, time off, and great benefits, to ensure you can focus on your best work.

Think you have what it takes, but not sure you check every box? Apply to the role anyways. We’d love to talk and determine together whether you could be a great fit!
