HR Generalist

Role: HR Generalist

FLSA: Full Time | Exempt | Salaried | Remote (US)

Reports to: Director of Human Resources

Scope of Position: The HR Generalist serves as the operational backbone of HR, owning the accurate, compliant, detail-oriented work that employees rely on every pay period. This is a hands-on role responsible for payroll processing, benefits administration, and HR compliance, while serving as a trusted resource for employees on day-to-day HR questions. You will partner closely with the Director of Human Resources to keep the engine room of HR running smoothly.  


Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but limited to:  

  • Payroll Processing: Ensuring employees are paid accurately and on schedule. Maintain and validate timekeeping, hours, deductions, and pay changes; manage payroll state registrations; coordinate payroll tax filings, unemployment claims, garnishments, and recordkeeping; keep online state tax accounts current and compliant; and resolve any discrepancies. 
  • Benefits Administration: Administer employee benefits programs, including enrollments, changes, and terminations. Manage the annual open enrollment process, serve as the day-to-day liaison to carriers and brokers, administer leave programs such as FMLA and applicable state leaves and accommodations, and answer employee benefits questions. 
  • Compliance: Maintain compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. Maintain accurate records, including I-9 verification, required notices, and retention; keep the handbook, policies, and required postings current; and support audits and EEO and wage and hour reporting. 
  • HR Operations: Own detail-oriented HR operations, including HRIS (Rippling) data integrity, employee files, and routine HR reporting. Coordinate onboarding and offboarding logistics and respond to day-to-day employee questions, escalating complex matters appropriately.  
  • Recruiting Support: Support candidate filtering and screening for standard, high volume roles, and provide light recruiting support such as posting roles and coordinating interviews as needed. Recruiting is not the primary focus of this role. 
  • Other duties as needed

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent practical experience 
  • 2 to 4 years of HR experience with direct ownership of payroll processing and benefits administration. 
  • Working knowledge of U.S. federal and state employment law, wage and hour rules, and HR compliance practices. 
  • Hands on experience with HRIS and payroll systems (Rippling preferred), with strong comfort using data and spreadsheets. 
  • Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and organization, with the ability to meet recurring deadlines. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. 
  • Sound judgment and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Compliance posture is proactive, with updated policies, completed audits, and current records. 
  • Standard role screening is consistent and supports a smooth, well-coordinated hiring process.

The compensation for this role is based on several factors, including the candidate's experience, education, skills, and alignment with the responsibilities outlined for the role. The anticipated salary range for this role is posted below with most candidates hired in the mid-range.  The position is also eligible for up to 10% annual bonus, as well as participation in the Company's equity program.
