Job Overview

A Manufacturing Engineer’s primary responsibility will be to implement new manufacturing processes and improve existing ones.


The role is based at our site in Gateshead and reports into the Senior Manufacturing Engineering Manager.


Key Responsibilities

In this role the Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for the following:

 

·         Follow Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) legislation and local HSE rules, raising issues where necessary

·         Analyse existing manufacturing systems, implementing improvements to boost efficiency and reduce costs

·         Collaborate with Engineering to influence designs for improved manufacturability and quality

·         Provide guidance on product quality issues within the production process

·         Create new production processes, workflows and equipment layouts

·         Provide support and input when required with customer and supplier concern investigations

·         Support production including travel to external manufacturing facilities

·         Collaborate across the Operations team and wider business providing technical expertise to achieve best practice and deliver

departmental level objectives.

·         Ensure quality & safety of the manufacturing processes & equipment

·         Analyse and troubleshoot manufacturing yield issues at EMS or Turntide Production sites

·         Support 8D investigations


The Requirements

We’re looking for candidates with the following experience and skills: 

  • Established experience in designing & deploying manufacturing process solutions for high volume production
  • Confidence and ability to challenge / respond to technical / process issues
  • Ability to take ownership of a work package; planning and scheduling own workload and the work of others
  • Ability to work within a multi-disciplined team
  • Ability to create technical documentation and presentation

         Understand Quality & Equipment Safety standards

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of multiple phases of the Product Life Cycle and the associated processes

       Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies 


Bonus Points

It would also be great (but not essential) if in addition to the above you also had:

  • Rail Experience
  • Knowledge of in one or more of the following:

Battery storage solutions / Battery Management Systems

   Power Electronics (Inverters, DC-DCs, OBCs)

    Electric Machines (PMAC, Induction, SRM)


Qualifications

A degree or equivalent in the following discipline is required Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Power Electronics, Mechanical Engineering or similar

Relevant experience could also be considered
