About the Role

Turtlebox Audio is seeking an experienced Product Quality Engineering Manager to help establish and lead our Quality function as our product portfolio continues to grow.

This role will be responsible for developing and implementing product quality systems, reliability testing processes, and supplier validation practices that support both new product development and ongoing production. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who is comfortable with building structure while remaining closely involved in day-to-day quality engineering activities.

This position works cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Customer Service, and Operations teams to drive continuous improvement, strengthen supplier performance, and ensure Turtlebox products consistently meet internal standards and global quality expectations.


Key Responsibilities

Build and Support Quality Systems

·         Develop and implement Turtlebox’s quality management framework aligned with ISO 9001 principles.

·         Develop quality plans, documentation, and metrics for all stages of product lifecycle (NPD → mass production → field).

·         Implement and manage eQMS system and QMS documentation.

·         Support compliance efforts and readiness for future ISO certifications (9001, 13485, AS9100, or IATF 16949, as applicable).

 

Supplier Quality & Global Manufacturing

·         Manage and audit international manufacturing partners, primarily in Southeast Asia, to ensure adherence to design, process, and quality requirements.

·         Collaborate with suppliers to develop and validate control plans, PFMEAs, and process capability studies.

·         Oversee Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) activities and first-article validation for new product introductions and major changes.


Data, Testing, and Root Cause Analysis

·         Develop and manage warranty and field-performance tracking systems to identify trends and drive corrective actions.

·         Lead structured Root Cause Analysis (RCA) efforts using tools such as 5 Whys, Ishikawa diagrams, and fault tree analysis.

·         Partner with engineering and testing teams to support product validation and ensure alignment with applicable IEC standards and internal requirements.


Leadership & Team Development

·         Recruit, mentor, and manage quality engineers as the team grows, including coordination with international resources as needed.

·         Promote a culture of accountability and continuous improvement across product development, manufacturing, and supply chain teams.

·         Serve as a key point of coordination between headquarters and supplier sites to support timely communication and issue resolution.


Qualifications

·         Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering (Master’s degree preferred).

·         8+ years of experience in Product Quality and/or Supplier Quality Engineering roles, including prior people leadership experience.

·         Demonstrated experience working with international manufacturing partners, particularly in Southeast Asia.

·         Experience implementing or scaling Quality Management Systems.

·         Working knowledge of ISO 9001; familiarity with ISO 13485, AS9100, or IATF 16949 is a plus.

·         Understanding of IEC and ASTM standards relevant to product testing and validation.

·         Hands-on experience with PPAP, DFMEA/PFMEA, control plans, and structured RCA methodologies.

·         Proficiency with GD&T and engineering documentation.

·         Experience using data and metrics to monitor quality performance and drive improvement.

·         Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively across functions and locations.

·         Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed (up to approximately 20%).
