Turtlebox Audio is a fast-growing outdoor audio company headquartered in Houston, Texas. Founded in 2012 by four friends passionate about sound and adventure, Turtlebox produces rugged, premium portable speakers designed to withstand extreme conditions and elevate any outdoor experience.

While culture is fun and casual, Turtlebox is entering a season of significant professionalization. With new products launching and a growing team, the company is building its product function from the ground up. The Vice President of Sales will be foundational to this evolution.

Working for Turtlebox

Back when we lived together in a house on the Buffalo Bayou in Houston, we used "Live Free" as a motto for our lives. It was printed on a sign that hung over the back door as a reminder to Live Free when we went out into the world. The basic idea is to be unafraid of what others might think. The bible describes it as letting go of your fear of man, to instead consider what God would think. So, we became unafraid of the disapproval that more close-minded people in our lives might have of our actions and decisions. When one of us got in a rut or weren't happy or couldn't make a decision, another guy would tell him "Live Free" and it was a reminder to free ourselves of whatever the burden might be, to act boldly and take the bull by the horns and do what our gut said was right. Sometimes it manifested in crazy acts of fun such as riding our bikes through the grocery store at night blaring the Titanic song on a Turtlebox. We bought a boat together on a whim and it provided some of the most epic adventures we've ever had. We threw parties and got everyone dancing like no one was watching. We invited down-on-their-luck characters into our life and included them and helped them where we could. We lived communally in ways most people don’t. And, eventually all this gave us the courage to create a company that has helped us to Live Free and live the way we want everyday.


We have a Live Free sign in our office now and you'll see us continue to use the phrase on our website and in our marketing. We hope it encourages you like it has us.

About the Role

We’re seeking a leader who knows how to scale, lead, and open new doors. Ideally this is someone with a passion for the outdoors, a mind for strategy, and the drive to take Turtlebox to the next level. You’ll own our entire sales function across DTC, retail, wholesale, and future directions. This is a critical leadership role, with a seat at the table as we grow the brand.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the charge on our overall sales strategy from high-level direction to boots-on-the-ground execution.
  • Define sales processes, methodologies, and best practices to scale revenue.
  • Establish and achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets.
  • Identify and expand into new markets, build scalable systems, and grow revenue across all channels (DTC, B2B, retail, e-commerce, and more).
  • Hire, train, and lead a sales team capable of expanding our reach.
  • Set clear performance expectations and provide regular coaching and feedback.
  • Foster a results-driven, positive team culture that thrives on performance and passion.
  • Forecast, manage pipelines, and manage KPIs.
  • Deliver accurate forecasts and reports to executive leadership and the board.
  • Identify bottlenecks in the sales process and implement solutions to improve close rates.
  • Spot patterns, surface insights, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Build relationships with key retail partners, distributors, and new accounts.
  • Work alongside marketing and product teams to make sure launches, campaigns, and pricing all hit just right.
  • Manage the sales department’s budget and tools.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards in all sales activities.

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or related field.
  • 10+ years of sales experience, including 5+ in senior leadership, ideally in consumer electronics, outdoor gear, or lifestyle brands.
  • Proven chops in building high-performing sales teams.
  • A firm grip on the retail and e-commerce landscape, plus B2B strategy.
  • Familiarity with the company’s target markets, customer personas, and competitive landscape.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Startup or growth-stage experience is a major plus.
  • Collaborative mindset with cross-functional teams.
