With almost 500 exceptional employees located in over a dozen different countries, Teamworks’ software solutions drive the operations of the most recognizable sports properties in the world.

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to help build the future of Teamworks Recruiting. You’ll play a pivotal role in launching a standalone recruiting product, evolving it from our current integrated software into a modern, scalable, and maintainable ecosystem.

This is a high-impact opportunity to lead a greenfield effort within a large organization and modernize how elite sports organizations attract, track, and manage recruits. You’ll collaborate closely with engineering, compliance, and intelligence teams to help define and build the technical foundation for the next generation of recruiting software.

This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of athlete performance management in one of the fastest-growing companies in sports tech.

Game Plan - How You'll Drive Impact:

  • Build and maintain new Laravel-based microservices that power Teamworks’ next-generation recruiting experience.
  • Port and refactor recruiting logic from Java systems into a scalable, maintainable PHP/Laravel codebase.
  • Develop well-documented APIs and backend services that integrate recruiting workflows with Teamworks’ broader intelligence and personnel ecosystem.
  • Lead technical decision-making related to data model separation, communication logging, and system interoperability.
  • Optimize SQL queries and data flows between MySQL-backed systems to ensure performance, compliance, and data integrity.
  • Help establish backend architecture patterns that will be foundational to our recruiting platform for years to come.

Player Profile - What You Bring to the Team:

  • Proficiency in PHP with strong, demonstrable experience using Laravel in production environments.
  • Solid understanding of Laravel conventions, Eloquent ORM, service container usage, and middleware patterns.
  • Strong SQL skills with the ability to write, optimize, and debug queries in relational databases like MySQL.
  • Experience building microservices and backend systems that integrate across multiple applications and services.
  • Familiarity with version control, CI/CD workflows, and containerized environments (e.g., Docker).

The Ideal Recruit - Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Deep expertise in Laravel framework and ecosystem (queues, jobs, events, service providers, etc.).
  • Knowledge of event-driven system design and service orchestration.
  • Experience integrating backend services with analytics, data pipelines, or reporting tools.

Champion Mindset - Traits for Success:

  • Strong interest in thinking about products, including user empathy and an understanding of how a product works as a complex system.
  • Pragmatic focus on ROI.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across remote teams and time zones.
  • Ability to discern technical constraints, resources, and opportunities available; willingness to take a creative approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to estimate and prioritize.
  • Possessing high integrity.
  • Aligned with our core values: honesty, humility, hard work, commitment, innovation, and exceptionalism.
