The Fabrication Department Lead’s primary objectives are to coordinate the various processes of the department to ensure production targets are met, the team works efficiently and is inspired by and engaged with the work. This position is also responsible for the safety and smooth operation of all activities and equipment in the Fabrication department while ensuring all required materials are organized, stocked and maintained. The role responsibilities will be developed in collaboration with the Expertise Leads to ensure all company and departmental practices and initiatives are being addressed.


Key Responsibilities

  • UAP Values: Practice & encouragement//Lead by example
  • Data Accuracy: Daily monitoring of staff project clocking for accuracy
  • Safety: Assessing safe spaces with teaching & monitoring of safe practices
  • Assign special projects to Project Leads
  • Work with Expertise Leads in creating standards, monitor best methods and introduce innovative tooling & process opportunities
  • Conduct weekly departmental meetings on UAP values/Challenges/Goals/safety & successes
  • Communication: Practicing the interdepartmental loop, inclusive of Project Managers, Project Leads, and Designers.
  • Reporting: Monitor project performance and report up to Project Manager’s and to the business.
  • Strategy: Create strategies with the larger team for projects to maximize efficiency and communication with set goals.

Qualifications

  • Strong work ethic and value of open communication with teammates.
  • Ability to solve complex problems in collaboration with various teams throughout the foundry.
  • Technical understanding of all processes of the Fabrication Department.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Metal Fabrication.
  • Ability to switch quickly and continuously across different projects while maintaining momentum.
  • Computer skills utilizing Microsoft Office (Teams, Outlook, Excel)
  • A commitment to the art of sculpture creation!

Accountability

  • Working with the Manufacturing Manager I Fabrication to realize goals set in collaboration.
  • Maintaining a smooth workflow intake and output with adjacent departments.
  • Ensuring a positive, transparent connection between the Fabrication team and the business with developed career trajectories.
  • Monitor Project performance in % complete vs. hours expended and remaining—GP

Performance Indicators

  • The Fabrication team operates safely without incident and maintains a positive work environment.
  • Production goals set by the Manufacturing Manager are being set and maintained.
  • Report up the communication chain when forecasting GP’s hits and manufacturing goals are in trouble.
  • The Fabrication Team should continuously train and mentor new and alternate members.
  • The Fabrication process is continually improving and evolving to meet market demands.
  • The Fabrication Department improves the workflow of the production line holistically.
