Objective:  The purpose of the Business Developer | Core is to develop a deep pipeline of clients and project opportunities that align with the strategic goals of the business, while working closely with our Rock Tavern world renowned UAP foundry (formerly Polich Tallix) delivery teams.


Candidates will be required to work closely with other members of the UAP Consultancy and Manufacturing teams in Rock Tavern, NY as well as our office in New York City.

 

Key Responsibilities


Network and Opportunity Development:

  • Develop a deep client network of Curators, Artists, Gallery representatives, and Non-profit organizations and institutions.
  • Introduce UAP capabilities to existing and developing networks.
  • Research potential project opportunities across private and public art commissions.
  • Represent UAP at events that could provide opportunities for UAP.
  • Report network growth and project pipeline at internal weekly sales meetings.
  • Develop an understanding of potential partner vendors that are possible collaborators with UAP.
  • Develop a Hot List of projects that are likely to be won and drive project wins to be converted in the predicted month.
  • Develop strategic focus to maximize business success that align with the strategic goals of the business.
  • Regularly scheduling and visiting artist studios, helping to expand and evolve artists sculpture practices to benefit from UAP foundry and fabrication capabilities.
  • Regularly attending gallery openings and connecting with artists/galleries in person.
  • Working closely with our Rock Tavern foundry and fabrication delivery team to produce samples and work through early ideation stages of projects alongside the hands-on experts.

 

Project Qualification and Commercial Reviews

  • Gather project opportunity requirements and goals.
  • Discuss design and fabrication approaches with clients.
  • Pre-qualify that project opportunities are appropriate for UAP with support from the existing Business Development team.
  • Prepare project qualification and estimation requests for internal review and decision making around delivery methodologies.
  • Work with Estimation and Delivery teams to ensure all scope items are captured in the preparation of project costs.
  • Ensure all projects are Commercially Reviewed before submission of pricing and proposals.

 

Proposal and Contract Engagement

  • Prepare Word & InDesign proposals that clearly state the project scope and assumptions considered.
  • Review client contracts, providing comments for Leadership reviews, that UAP are to sign and agree to.
  • Ensure Terms and Conditions of proposals and contracts are applicable, fair and are not overly onerous on UAP.
  • Communicate and present proposals to clients and stakeholders for the project to ensure there is shared agreement on the scope, timeline, and other project deliverables.
  • Regularly check-in on expected proposal signing to drive project wins that meet business targets and goals.
  • Affectively transition project wins to the Delivery Teams ensuring scope and project goals are fully understood and agreed to.
  • Staying closely connected with clients throughout the duration of the project delivery, and partnering with the UAP foundry and fabrication delivery team to ensure a good outcome for the project for all.


Requirements

  • Experience: minimum 5+ years of industry experience, preferably within the art manufacturing industry, gallery, studio management experience.
  • Comfortable and knowledge of standard contract terms and condition, a plus.
  • Knowledge of various materials/design/fabrication/installation processes is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail, problem solver, networker, creative, strong business aptitude, capable of juggling numerous priorities, and strategic thinker.
  • Connections: Established network within the Art Gallery community is highly desired.
  • Initiative: Demonstrable track record of disciplined analytical, problem-solving, and multi-tasking abilities.
  • Passion: Desire to learn the art of making, and interest in strategic networking and developing a commercially savvy approach to creating successful outcomes for UAP and our clients.
  • Knowledge: Solid knowledge of various materials/design/fabrication/foundry and installation processes.

 Skills 

  • Microsoft Office – Excel, Teams, Outlook and Word
  • Adobe Creative Suite – InDesign (preferred but internal training can be provided)
  • Rhinoceros 3D (minimal skills preferred but internal basic training can be provided)
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and on deadline with minimal supervision.

Physical Requirements: 

  • Must be able to sit for extended periods while working at a desk and using a computer.
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position for long durations.
  • Frequent hand and finger use required for operating a computer keyboard, mouse, and standard office equipment.
  • Occasional standing, walking, reaching, and light lifting of up to 10 pounds may be required.
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively in both verbal and written form.
  • Must be able to travel via car, rail or other methods to Rock Tavern workshop location (company will reimburse costs).

Salary Description - $90,000 - $120,000
