Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Data Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience with kafka, microservice architecture and expertise in coding with Python, particularly utilizing the Pandas library for data manipulation. Additionally experience in PHP, particularly the Laravel framework is a plus. The role involves working with various databases, including MySQL/MariaDB, PostgreSQL, Redshift, Google BigQuery, and MS SQL Server. Experience with containerized environments, EKS, and CI/CD deployments is essential, as well as proficiency in healthcare standards such as HL7, X12, and FHIR. Experience in stream enabled data lakes or in frameworks like Lakehouse a plus. The candidate should possess excellent debugging and problem-solving skills, be adept at shifting focus between multiple projects, and excel in documentation and collaboration. An ideal candidate would have experience with transitioning legacy SQL Server applications (SSIS, SSRS, Stored Procedures, Triggers, etc…) to modern methodologies.
UHIN is a non-profit Healthcare technology company that seeks to enable the seamless transfer of data between various stakeholders in the healthcare ecosystem. This is a position to support a new line of business with our affiliate Comagine Health. This role will work to build out the data architecture for various Comagine Health projects but will report to the Data Engineering Team at UHIN.
Qualifications - Education, Experience and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3 to7 years proven experience as a Data Engineer.
- 1 to 3 yrs expertise in Python and the Pandas library.
- 1 to 3 yrs experience with kafka.
- 1 to 3 yrs experience with microservice architecture.
- Familiarity with various databases, including MySQL/MariaDB, PostgreSQL, Redshift, Google BigQuery, and MS SQL Server.
- Excellent collaboration skills.
- Proficiency in containerized development environments, with experience in EKS and CI/CD deployments.
- An understanding of healthcare standards such as HL7, X12, and FHIR.
- Exceptional debugging and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage and shift focus between multiple projects.

- Debugging and Problem Solving: Address and resolve complex issues through thorough debugging and problem-solving techniques. Develop sane error handling and reporting procedures to allow you or someone else to quickly diagnosis and repair bugs
- Project Management: Effectively manage and shift focus between multiple projects, ensuring timely and successful completion.
- Documentation and Collaboration: Create and maintain detailed documentation for code, data processes, and project specifications. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals.
- ETL Design and Creation: Create and maintain custom ETL processes for various analytical projects
- Communication: Keep a team of analysts and non technical project managers informed of the various trade-offs and nuances of your design.
- Write Maintainable Code: Document your code in a way that non-technical people could understand
- Coordinate: Meet with technical and non-technical people to gather requirements, give status updates, and elicit feedback.
