About UnityAI

UnityAI is an AI startup building the future of healthcare operations. With a $4M seed round from Max Ventures, Whistler Capital, Company Ventures, Nashville Capital Network, and other deeply connected supporters, we’re on a mission to empower healthcare providers with intelligent tools and transform how patient care is delivered.

Why we’re hiring

UnityAI builds AI applications that help our customers (healthcare providers) deliver better care to their patients. We instrument these applications, logging information about how the application is performing, who is using it, and how it is being used. Downstream, we collect data on how the application and its predictions impacted care delivery, customer operations, and customer financial performance.

As a Data Analyst at UnityAI, you will be responsible for organizing, querying, and displaying data to help our company and our customers understand performance in a variety of dimensions. You will build tools and dashboards to monitor and evaluate each product’s performance, both internally and in support of our customers. Using these insights, you will partner with our product development team, helping them understand their applications’ real-world performance and collaboratively identify ways to improve every aspect of our offerings.

Since UnityAI is an early-stage startup, you will have the opportunity to shape the role and the development of our products. As UnityAI grows, the person in this role will have significant opportunities for professional growth.

In this role, you’ll help lead:

  • Measuring ROI: The primary goal of this role is to measure the ROI of our products and services. That means engaging with customers to understand their value chain, collaborating with the product team to ensure that the applications are instrumented to collect necessary data, determining the metric definitions and calculations that need to be produced, and collating all of that in a data tool, dashboard, or visualization that communicates outputs and outcomes.
  • Communicating value delivery: You’ll develop clear, compelling reports, dashboards, and presentations to demonstrate the value of our products to clients, helping them understand the impact on their operations and patient care.
  • Communicating issues, errors, and undesirable trends: You’ll establish systems to identify and report on application issues, errors, or negative trends. The purpose of this work is to improve our team’s ability to quickly resolve issues and drive constant improvement of our products.
  • Build reporting and monitoring systems: You’ll work with data stored in the Google Cloud Platform (GCP), using BigQuery, Google Data Studio, and other GCP tools to create reporting and monitoring systems that provide insights into application performance and user behavior.
  • Synthesizing feedback for products: You’ll review the data and analytics you have created and provide feedback for our products to improve their ability to meet our customers’ needs.

What you’ll need to be successful:

We value demonstrable knowledge and the ability to deliver real-world solutions above formal education. Candidates are expected to have experience and/or interest in learning:

  • Strong proficiency in SQL for data querying and analysis.
  • Experience with data visualization tools: Preferably, this experience is with Google Data Studio, Looker, and/or Metabase; experience with Power BI, Tableau, or any other major BI/Visualization tool is useful as well, though our team will be focused on the Google stack and Metabase.
  • Google Cloud Platform (GCP) experience is preferred. A working knowledge of Cloud architecture and modern application platforms is required.
  • Ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Healthcare provider data experience is a plus, especially hospital, clinic, and care management data. Our company has adopted the FHIR R4 standard as our data model - experience/familiarity with it and/or an unreasonable eagerness to learn it is essential.
  • Python programming skills are highly desirable; if you don’t have these skills currently, you’ll need to be unreasonably excited about learning.

Additional values, skills, and mindsets we’re looking for:

  • Extreme ownership: We are a small and mighty team. When you find an issue that needs to be handled, your first thought should be to take ownership and get it done.
  • Collaboration and communication: Because we are a small, early-stage startup, everyone needs to be contributing their maximum in the areas where their talents and ability are best suited. That means communicating eagerly and collaborating with others to achieve our goals in the most efficient way possible.
  • Big-picture thinking: Everyone needs to care a lot about our broader business goals and understand how their daily work drives toward those goals.
  • Velocity and delivery: You ship solutions efficiently and effectively, maintaining a balance between speed and quality.
  • Sustainable development: We want our systems to be characterized by reliability, security, and safety. You’ll need to ship quickly while keeping an eye on minimizing technical debt.
  • Adaptability: We’re in a stage of rapid experimentation and prototyping, so you will need to be comfortable with ambiguity, change, and uncertainty. Your key priority may change tomorrow; if that doesn’t excite you, this may not be the right fit.
