About the role


The Tax Operations Manager will be a meticulous and highly skilled decision-maker leading the growing compliance side of our tax department. This pivotal role requires a deep understanding of complex tax matters, organizational prowess, and the ability to manage a dynamic team. The ideal candidate will thrive under pressure, demonstrating a commitment to meeting tight deadlines, ensuring precise compliance, and optimizing workflow within a high-demand environment.


What you'll do

  • Conduct comprehensive reviews of tax returns, overseeing the preparation of complex individual and business filings to ensure accuracy and compliance, while leveraging technology to drive efficiency.
  • Lead, mentor, and support team members by identifying training needs, providing hands-on guidance, and fostering a collaborative, high-performing work environment.
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures that optimize Uplinq’s technological resources to improve efficiency and manage high volumes of work.
  • Manage budgets, team hours, and resource allocation to deliver projects effectively within financial and time constraints.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and commitment by working extended hours during peak tax seasons to meet deadlines and support the team under pressure.
  • Establish and enforce rigorous quality control protocols to maintain the highest standards in tax preparation and compliance, driving continuous process and efficiency improvements.
  • Train and mentor junior staff members, enhancing technical expertise and professional growth in tax-related matters.

Qualifications

  • Active EA or CPA certification
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance, math, or economics (Master’s preferred)
  • 10+ years of experience in tax operations or public accounting, including 3+ years in a managerial role
  • Expertise in corporate tax laws with the ability to explain complex issues clearly
  • Significant experience with QuickBooks Online and CCH Access tax software
  • Demonstrated leadership in managing, training, and mentoring high-performing teams
  • Ability to quickly adapt to new processes and technologies

The pay range for this role is:

100,000 - 115,000 USD per year (Remote)
