Medical Assistant (Part-Time / PRN)

Are you looking to be part of a talented, compassionate, and caring pediatric team? Urgent Care for Children is seeking a Part-Time (PRN) Medical Assistant for our Tuscaloosa, AL clinic. This position is ideal for a motivated, dependable individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys working with kids.
Key Responsibilities:
- Triage patients according to clinic protocols
- Record vital signs, weight, and updated medical history prior to appointments
- Perform lab tests based on clinical protocols and provider orders
- Maintain and update digital patient records
- Assist in converting paper charts to electronic medical records
- Clean and prepare exam rooms before each visit
- Support front office operations as needed (answering phones, greeting patients)
- Administer medications under provider direction
- Assist during exams and medical procedures
- Perform x-ray positioning as instructed
- Help maintain inventory of medical supplies
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program or Certified Medical Assistant with relevant experience (required)
- Pediatric experience is a plus
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- High level of professionalism
- Experience with electronic medical records (preferred)
Schedule:
This is a PRN (as-needed) position with no guaranteed or fixed schedule. Availability for evening, weekend, and holiday shifts is preferred. Schedules are flexible and based on clinic needs.
Clinic Hours:
- Monday – Friday: 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
- Saturday & Sunday: 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Hours may vary based on operational needs and training.
