THE ROLE


Mission

Your mission at Origin is to provide strategic legal and compliance leadership, ensuring that our innovative financial solutions are delivered within a robust legal framework. You will lead the legal and compliance functions, as a member of the executive team and reporting to the CEO. Collaborating across teams, you will transform complex legal and regulatory requirements into actionable strategies that empower Origin to grow with confidence.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Legal Counsel: Provide expert legal advice to the executive team, supporting business objectives and mitigating legal risks.
  • Compliance Program Leadership: Develop, implement, and oversee a comprehensive compliance program tailored to the needs of a registered investment advisor, ensuring adherence to SEC regulations and other applicable laws.
  • Regulatory Liaison: Serve as the primary point of contact with regulatory bodies, managing audits, examinations, and inquiries.
  • Data Privacy Oversight: Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations, including GDPR, CCPA, and other relevant frameworks.
  • Contract Management: Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and agreements across various business functions.
  • Mergers & Acquisitions: Lead legal due diligence and integration processes for M&A activities.
  • Intellectual Property Management: Protect and manage Origin’s intellectual property portfolio.
  • Employment Law Guidance: Advise on employment-related legal matters and ensure compliance with labor laws.
  • Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate legal and compliance risks, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Training and Awareness: Develop and deliver training programs to promote compliance awareness and ethical practices across the organization.


Must Have

  • Education: Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years in legal and compliance roles, with a strong background in fintech, investment advisory, or other regulated financial institutions. Prior in-house experience is preferred.
  • Licensing: Active bar admission in good standing.
  • Regulatory Expertise: Deep understanding of SEC regulations, fiduciary duties, and compliance requirements for registered investment advisors.
