Position summary

Valaurum is growing rapidly, and we are looking to hire an Art Director. This position reports to the Director of Customer Success. This is a supervisory position.

 

Responsibilities

  • Manages design staff (Graphic Designer, Senior Graphic Designer)
  • Collaborates with and directs marketing team as needed to ensure the highest quality of brand standards are applied across marketing materials and products
  • Mentors designers and supports professional growth through coaching, performance feedback, and skill development
  • Develops and leads the visual style and creative direction for brand and product across all touchpoints
  • Owns concept development for Aurum products, including both house line and custom client projects
  • Oversees Company design resources, timelines, and workflows to ensure deadlines are met while maintaining high-quality deliverables
  • Reviews work from the design team and provides clear, actionable feedback to elevate creative output
  • Leads and participates in client presentation meetings, representing Company creative capabilities, advocating for both client and Company needs, and clearly communicating creative strategy and design rationale
  • Responsible for Establishing, updating, and maintaining Company brand standards, making suggestions to improve Company brand positioning and ensuring consistency across digital, print, packaging, and experiential assets
  • Guides creative problem solving for complex or high-visibility projects
  • Manages external creative partners and vendors when needed (freelancers, printers, packaging vendors, etc.)
  • Leads project scoping, creative briefs, and resource planning
  • Evaluates and improves design processes, tools, and workflows to increase efficiency and scalability
  • Stays current on design trends, materials, and production techniques relevant to physical and digital products
  • Leads Company design and production of social media assets, including campaign visuals, product launches, motion snippets, and platform-specific content for Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, and emerging channels
  • Leads hands-on creative development for new products, from early visual exploration and prototyping through final production-ready artwork
  • Collaborates directly with product and marketing teams to translate product features and stories into compelling, high-performing social and digital content
  • Develops and tests visual concepts for social campaigns, iterating based on performance data, trends, and audience engagement
  • Creates and refines product visuals, packaging concepts, and presentation assets used for internal reviews, client approvals, and go-to-market launches
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor


Requirements or equivalent experience

  • 10+ years of design experience
  • 4+ years of design team management experience
  • Experience presenting creative work to clients and internal stakeholders
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating concept development, brand systems, and execution across multiple mediums
  • Preferred: background in commercial art production, brand identity development, trade shows, and experiential design
  • Preferred: experience managing multiple concurrent projects and brand voices
  • Preferred experience
  • Background in collectibles, fintech, commercial art, or tangible goods/physical products

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The position is very active and requires standing, walking, and bending all day. The employee must frequently lift or move items up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift or move items up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
