Valens is looking to hire a mission-oriented analyst to support clients in the national security space. As a vital partner, Valens serves a wide range of private and public sector clients with strategic and operational deliverables on a variety of complex issues. We rely on our analysts to understand our client’s mission and craft products that have direct operational or strategic value for end-users.  

 

Analysts work in all phases of production: planning, scoping, research, analysis, drafting, editing, and reviewing. They produce clear, interesting, and cogent written products requiring minimal editing. Valens Analysts are skilled in mining the open-source collection landscape for information and insights. They must also be quick studies, comfortable working across diverse, rapidly evolving issue sets. Attention to detail, precision, and a knack for innovation are key attributes. Our ideal candidate is intellectually curious, has high standards of analytic integrity, and generates solutions to complex problems. We are looking for a critical and creative thinker interested not only in their own work but in a vigorous exchange of ideas. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Scope, researchand draft polished, precise, and insightful client products on topics related to national security. 

  • Conduct research on range of relevant topics and geographic regions, consulting open-source materialspublicly available information, and provided databases. 

  • Perform time management, administrative, and logistical tasks as necessary to keep projects on track and stakeholders informed. 

  • Collaborate with other analysts and managers on projects and be willing to liaise with clients and external experts as needed. 

 

Minimum Requirements: 

  • U.S. citizenship  

  • Bachelor’s degree + 1 year of experience (inclusive of internships) working on issues related to international affairs or national security 

  • Experience conducting research drawing on a wide range of open sources   

  • Outstanding attention to detail

  • Strong critical and creative thinking skills  

  • Strong writing and editing capabilities 

  • Strong interpersonal communication and collaboration skills 

  • Eligibility for security clearance 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience working as an intelligence analyst within the U.S. government or supporting U.S. government contracts 

  • Organizational and project management planning skills 

  • Experience conducting quantitative research and data analysis 

  • Experience and interest in learning and applying new technologies 

  • Top Secret (TS) Security Clearance
